The Workman SA350 speaker came in yesterday. Not bad at all. Silver metal, black cone. Much larger than stock magnet. Small spade plugs that fit the 148's speaker wire ends. Mounting holes are small but perfectly located. Fits like a glove. I like it!

I once put a larger more hi-fi speaker in my 2547. It fit fine. But. In a week it magnetized some internal parts and pushed the radio way off frequency.

I'd like to try this mod in my 2000. Pity nobody has made it as a kit.

Thanks for the pointer. After a bit of research I find the Workman SA350 speaker fits the 148 GTL. It goes for around $5. I notice the spade connectors are a bit too large to use the stock cable ends without help. I may just swap the ends for a larger set.

The included 10 Amp fuse was a good clue. Rats!

Has anyone tried to put one of these amps in a Cobra 2000 and not cooked the radio's power supply?

I keep waiting for a Chinese company to come out with a cool, lowish priced general coverage HF radio the size of a CB that, with the cut of a diode, display's channels, scans, compressor and does 50 watts. If we can't get a quality CB the usual way maybe we can get one through the back door.

Anyone have a good picture of where these parts are found in a 2000 GTL, in case I get bored one afternoon? My eyesight sucks. Thanks!
