I did put the antenna together on the ground I had each section being supported.by two cylinder blocks.
I took my time and tried several times to thread it. It was defective 100% no doubt.
This is a photo of it and where the sections were being put together.
It was on the ground. Nice soft...
I'm glad you brought that up. My intrest in a low pass filter only came to me because of my change from the a99 to the I max. I did post in an earlier posting that In six months of operating with my a99 at 12' in the air not a single complaint from nabour's about rfi. For some reason I have it...
I've definitely been reading. I've found that before concidrting purchasing any thing I might want to add to my station research is required. Then I ask you guy's for advice. I need to figure out how to ground my station and antenna as I've never had one, a ground that is. On either my...
Is there only reason to use a low pass filter ? Interferance ?
Or can it benefit your station. If so what other benefits besides stopping rfi?
Drake seems to be the choice of many.
Has anyone ever used the rf industries df 3000,, MFJ 704 or Nye.
If I do need one id like to know what your...
I live in an area with one channel that used by all locals. And it's not 20.
I tune on channel 20 where the stations I occasionally hear barely have a readable signal.
Even if there on the air I go ahead and tune up.
If I knew I was going to interfere with anyone on that channel I would just...
Captain. I agree with you. If I had brought it over to my nabour's house he would've had the problem corrected in a few minutes and my i max would've been in the air.
And if everything's gonna work like I suspect it too, I'd most like be making contacts instead of watching tv on a lazy Sunday...
Thanks Marconi. I'm glad i asked.
I would've left them out.
I looked in the bag containing the u-bolts and did see the large and smaller lock washers for the two sections. I'm hoping the new top section gets here on Tuesday as i will have the help to finish the install on Wednesday. thanks.
After reading more about the I max 2000. I've noticed a few people mention, lock washers.
since I didn't use the supplied u-bolts. I didn't open the sealed plastic bag they come in. Should there be a couple of lock washers in there? I'm assuming there's two if the posts I read are correct...
He's not actually getting me a new antenna.
He's just getting me a new third (whip) section. I assumed these antenna's were produced in three seprate sections at the factory and were not tested as a sigal antenna.
Will it matter which particular whip I max 2000 final section is installed on...
I own a mint dak lX. JUNK! JUNK! JUNK!
I was concidering putting another chassis in there with a 4 x 1446 Palomar / boomer /shooting star 500"s with a mobile ssb chassis (148 gtl or the like). Imo it will receive and transmittt as well or close to what the person put into that dak shell.
Why...
I just didn't feel i should put myself out.
After all the antenna was purchesed new and that's what I exspected. Honestly the more I read these posts the more pissed I become.
I'm blaming myself for not ordering it from cheap ham.
The thing that's really earking me is I've never heard of this...
It was absolutely a factory defect.
I brought the middle and top section back to the place of purchase and the store owner couldn't get the top section threaded into the second section of the antenna.
He pulled three different steel and fiberglass whips from other (mobile antennas) with the...
I agree with road squwaker. I've read many posts / articles on the 2000 and have never heard of this being a problem. Am i the first person this has ever happened too? I doubt it, I'm convinced it rare.
If it was going to happen the fact it happened to me was no surprise. There are people who...
I agree with all three suggestions but I bought it brand ne and don't feel I should have to do that. If I decided to tap the thread and fucked it up I might not get a replacement.
The whips that were checked and threaded nicely into the female didn't belong to me and I've waited long enough...
Everything was going fine until the third and final piece of the antenna put a stop to that.
The second part of the i max threded as easy as it should've.
The third and final (whip) section wouldn't thread into the second section of the antenna.
After a bit of checking which thread was bad...
when an amps tuned up on antenna A then switched to antenna B should your amplifier be returned to antenna B?
I've read so many postings suggesting that one should tune their amplifier using a dummy load.
Then remove the dummy load and hook your stations antenna up.
Wouldn't this most likely...
I'm gonna make it as simple as possible for myself to get back on the air asap and screwing those three lengths of imax 2000 doesn't get any simpler.
I'm concidering getting a low pass filter. I've installed a Dawia two way antenna switch. I have it setup to switch between the Madison/phantom...
I can't go with the gp kit. My backyards kinda small. I thought about getting the gp when I purchesed the 2000 but being I'm only 12' off the ground it'll look like a rocket ship taking off.
Honestly if I were going to go with a ground wave antenna I would've purchased a maco or high end 5/8...
I'd like to let everyone who's helped me know why the antennas not in the air yet. I have a a very bad back. when i say bad think about the worst back injury someone could have then times that by ten. I need help with the install and if I could've done it myself it would've be in the air weeks...
