I have put the radio on the "to do list". I just got a 949 and tweaked it up for now. I want to thank you for your post on how to set the final voltage on the new mosfet 949's as the SM on CB tricks is for the old 949's.
Thanks.
Well I installed the new '817 and it worked! So the ecg on was at fault.
Now the bad news.
I was checking the biases. The driver bias was a little off, adjusted that. I have adjusted biases in both radios and audio amps before so I'm familiar with it.
When I was adjusting the final bias I...
Thanks for the replies, guys.
I don't know what happened with my post, rest never got posted.
Anyway, before doing q54, I swapped out q55(mine was 2sa1869) with Nte153 and that worked fine. This was to get more mic gain when using a non amplified noise cancelling mic. Regarding my original...
Hi everyone long time lurker here.
After seeing some of the mods for the galaxy dx 959 I decided to try some of them on my 94 since they both share the 6900 series main board.
I replaced q54 (stock 2sb827) amp voltage regulator with a ecg37 (2sb817 equivalent ).
This is supposed to provide...
I should have included this in my first repy.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH ALCOHOL.
I had some sticky residue on the front panel of my fairly new Galaxy DX94HP. I used rubbing alcohol trying to clean it.
It left the mat black finish with white blotches all over it. I was devastated.
The only way...
If its a piece of equipment that I just acquired, I remove all knobs and soak in warm water with some dish detergent first. Then use a soft toothbrush if necessary.
For the equipment I already own, I try not to get them dirty.
I forgot to update.
I poked around inside and touching one of the harnesses near the front of the radio, it came back to life. I then tried to get the radio to quit again and could not.
I reseated all the plug-in jumpers, cleaned all the switches and controls, then went thru the alignment...
I completed the kit and did notice a moderate improvement. I was a bit nervous of replacing the N.B. diodes since they very different looking compared to the new Schotkkies.
The NB works fine.
Overall it was a few dollars well spent.
Well he gave me the the dx99v today to take home. After playing around with it here are the symptons.
Low sensitivity.
Signals that I do hear are distorted and "crispy" sounding.
People tell me my transmitted signal is "watery" and weak sounding.
When transmitting the meter light dims...
I know he bought it used and it worked great for a long time. He did have an issue with blowing fuses and had that fixed. This new problem came suddenly so it wasn't like it happened after someone fooled with it.
This is a friends radio. The receive audio is distorted, almost like when you turn off the AGC on a radio that allows that.
I witnessed this myself. He wants me to take it home and see if I can find the problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the help. I already saw that thread and can't find that product locally.
Although today I was in my local Lowes, and bought a sheet of Frost King Air Conditioner Filter Foam. I looks like it might work. It is open cell a says 3/16 of an inch thick, but seems more like 1/8, which...
