Three Reliable used Budget HF Transceivers

I always liked Yaesu's FT-757GX. I finally bought one, with the matching power supply it sits on top of for $250. The simplicity of these older radios can be a plus, and while my FT-710 has a bunch of features, many times I prefer listening to the 757.

need parts or its for sale

Same here. I have my McKinley and 203 amp mounted in our SUV. When my wife isn't riding shotgun I'll plop one of my larger radios on the passenger seat, and use that. It would be nice to have something akin to the new Washington or QT60 Pro with a removable head like Yaesu's FT-891, but the...

need parts or its for sale

Perhaps to you, but a small am/ssb radio is worth more than $20 to a lot guys with little to no space to put a SSB radio into their vehicle.

    Radioddity QT-60 *Pro*

They were sold out when I got there, so I went to Amazon, which still showed it in stock for $207 and used some bonus points I'd been saving up ($152 total). One-day shipping (arrived today). I need this like I need a hole in the head, but I wanted to compare it to the non-plus QT-60.

    38 LOWER: thats awesome!

I think of 38 as the "Playoff channel" where idiots practice being bigger idiots until finally graduating to the Super Bowl channel. I'm about 40 miles SW of Houston and I've heard SSB QSOs on channels 34 to 40 and have noticed the Idiot factor has been creeping down to 37 and above 40. I'm sure...

    Anybody use switching power supplies?

I prefer the heavy ones with a big transformer. I had an Astron 35a supply that was pretty darn heavy, and powered just about everything for 10+ years, but lost it in a divorce. Another older one, that I kept at work (divorce proof), was a Kenwood PS-30, which is still in use today, and still...

What is the difference between the QT-60 and QT-60 PRO?

I suspect they are way different PCBs inside each model, perhaps one is a long board and the new one a half board, but the only feature I've read about was regarding the noise reduction circuit. Is there something else? Thanks in advance!

Average distance for a Bone Stock 11 Meter SSB radio.

Two answers: 1). Talking DX, I've talking around the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and Europe with 12PEP using sideband. 2). Locally, I've talked 15 miles (+ or -) mobile-to-mobile on SSB, but where I live in Texas, the closest I get to a hilly region or mountains is a freeway overpass , so your...

AMAZON DAY PRICING ON ANYTONE AT-6666PRO, MEANWHILE ON RADIODDITY....

In the event you weren't watching pricing, the AT-6666PRO is $30 OFF ($269.99) for "AMAZON DAY", which is a decent price for that radio, and on Radioddity's website, the QT40 10 Meter Radio is $30 off ($169.99) - Great price, and the QT-60 is $52 off ($207.99), which is pretty good as well.

Vintage SSB Base CBs vs New

I would agree. It was somewhere in the '83 - '84 range. I think President was still advertising their lineup here in the states in late 1981. In 1984 I decided to update my station (I was using a Hy-Gain V + Hy-Gain v.f.o at the time). A co-worker thought the tax exempt number he had from a...

    FT 710 info ?

The 710 requires adding something (solder bridge), while the 7300 requires removing 2 diodes/resistors (can't remember what they were). The 7300 has pretty decent AM, if you use AM a lot. The 710 is close, but not quite as good in AM (IMO). The 710's receiver is rated well above the one in...

What year did the HR 2510 go into production?

In the Fall of '88 there was already early reviews and mention of Radio Shack coming out with their version (HTX-100). By mid 1989 '73 Magazine' was publishing a series of articles about modifying some features or circuits of the 2510. So I'd say 1988, in support of 999's comment.

    Beware of superhawkwss6 on Ebay

I would be surprised if he didn't have (at least one) different account for buying. There's another fella to look out for in Connecticut (can't remember his eBay account name). He also has a different account for purchases.

What is your favorite brand of antennas

I usually run mobile, so I either use some varieties of the Sirio mobile antennas, or the President Texas (depending on where I'm going I have to switch antennas) if there are some heavy, low hanging tree limbs, I'll pick the shortest whip.
