I think I would stay away from anyting used to power audio equipment. Sometimes you pay for what you get. I love my Astron power supply and has no noise whatsoever and the biggest specification I would look at is its ripple voltage. It should be around 5mv peak to peak and a full load and low...
I don't think you are going to need the UTB-1; for when these radios are peaked and tuned you can get distorted and a squeal from the talkback that is on when you turn the echo on. There is a solution to this and depending on the how old your 99v is here are the solutions. If you have the newer...
I am looking for a service manual or any information to peak and tune this radio. This is the smt version made for the US and is the 40th anniversay and the date of the board is Dec. 2004. Thanks for any help.
I also did this RF sampler and works great with my B+K 35mhz osc. I also did one more thing to make it convient to hook my frequency counter on and sample at the same time. I drilled another hole in the box and put another bnc connector with another 100ohm resistor that connects on to the same...
I found a set-up that has a bnc connector with binding posts on e-bay. Could I just hook my probes onto the positive and negative posts and sample that way, or am I better off getting a jumper wire with 2 bnc jacks on it. Thanks beetle, I was not thinking of the gauge on that cable and really...
Thanks alot moleculo; I will build one as soon as I have time and get the parts needed. I have the so239 input, outpu; I just need some bnc connectors and a 2 watt resistor and a ferrite core and a bnc to bnc connector cord. I assume I could make my own, could I use regular RG8 coax and solder...
Sorry, about that I didn' really look at it; I just quoted what bootymonster said. I should of looked at it. Is that a 1 watt or 1/2 watt and how much power can it handle. I do work on some exports that put out quite a bit of power. I am a little confused about the rf sampler though. I assume...
Thanks for the replies, and its is finally getting through my thick head that the rf sampler/demodulator is what I need. Thanks once again moleculo for the pics and I assume the 2k resistor and is grounded behind the nut and washer of the so239. I can get all of the supplies I need including the...
Thanks for the suggestion so far; especially freecells' link to the oscilliscope handbook. I know how to measure the most of the basics, the main thing I was looking for is hooking my scope to look at modulation of the cb, and where exactly to hook the probe(like does the ground go to the - side...
I have a nice B&K 35 mhz that I would like to use on my cb work. So far I have been using my Dosy psw-4002, Conar frequency generator, Astron VS-35M and a palstar 1.5Kw. I also have a vintage Wawasee jb-1002 that I primarily use to check frequency. I have some new 1x and 10x probe with BNC...
I have read a lot about whose radio is the loudest and I have to say that it really makes not sense. The connex and general lee are the same radio with the same echo board that produce the loudest audio I have ever heard, base or mobile. Galaxy makes a great echo board, but nothing clears the...
I had a cobra 29 ltd classic for the life of me I couldn't figure it out why it would key up one minute and die the next with no key up, no modulation but had recieve. I messed around with re-heating the solder points on the final, audio chip and driver to no success. Finally I was probing...
I have repaired several of these metal cords, and they are a pain the in the rear. You have to peel the metal conduit with pliers and then dremel or file off all sharp edges off or it will puncture the cord and like someone said before running power will shock you or it will cause a short. The...
I personally have a 636l,RK56,Astatic Road Devil,Skythumper,Ranger SRA-158. I have ran these microphone for over 3 yrs in a tractor switching them out and here are the opinions of trusted drivers who have good external speakers and are not tone deaf. The 636l is a good priced noise cancelling...
I have been tinkering with the idea of usin the mosfets and have both the erf and 520 kits. I have intalled one in a very good peaked and tuned cobra 29 ltd classic. I put it on the meters and the dk dropped to 1 1/2 watts and peak was around 24-26w. Before the mods the numbers were dk: 6 1/2w...
I did some more investigating on the soundcrapper and the audio chip has no cold solder connections, but I did some voltage checks on the rectifier diode before and after turning on the radio and something came up. The voltage across it before was a little low around .513v and when I turned the...
I just installed the audio chip, but I will go back over it with a fine tooth comb and make sure it definitely soldered correctly. Thanks for the help.
I have tested the PA has low volume white noise but when keyed up it will not come out of the external speaker, so please point me a direction to hopefully fix this old piece of junk and maybe I will learn something!!! Thanks
A couple of other things about this radio; someone blew the rectifier diode and charred it so bad it fell apart into dust. Then someone put a rectifier across the plug terminals to get it working, and someone had an echo board in it at one time because the delta tune is not original or hooked up...
