D&A Phantom el509/519/6P45C conversion and more

Here are the power supply drawings I made. I will change them as needed, with mistake corrections or recommended fixes. Will be adding a redraw tonight. I change a few things on the new proposed power supply. Original power supply as I got the amp. Here is a redraw. I will tie the...

    D&A phantom rework

Just an update. This build is still in the works. I let a friend use 5 of the el509's for his klv1000, 1.1kwPEP on SSB now. Sooo, I am waiting on some more tubes. A few fans and caps. Once I get it running, and now everything is good to go, I would like to convert it to 2 driving 8 or...

improving the NB anl in the 858 chassis

R43. This is a 680kohm resistor on some radios. Try increasing to 1 meg, up to 2 meg, to increase the nb/anl effectiveness. See herehttp://www.worldwidedx.com/general-cb-services-discussion/33879-858-ssb-chassis-receive-mods-needed.html

improving the NB anl in the 858 chassis

I second what robb said. If you do a search you may find a few thread s out there on the 858 chassis, including some of mine and the ones I posted in. There us a resistor in that circuit, which you can increase the value to help the nb/anl. But, you would need to be sure the circuit itself is...

Mosfets in a Galaxy DX 88

I don't care about swing, I talk ssb. I made a statement about a high drive amp and the difference in input power. Which I own a high drive tube amp. I also own 4 2510's. Just saying, relax.

    Astatic D104M6B

I too need one. I have one that is screwed up. It keeps the radio keyed sometimes, and kills the battery when not in use. I should love to just get a ptt switch.

Mosfets in a Galaxy DX 88

Like he said. But, going from 30 to 60 watts when you are driving a high drive amp could mean 200 watts. I guess it depends on what you are trying to do.

    Washington 858pll low power

I may try putting a pot in there for mod one, just so I can play with it to get what I need. mod two is still up in the air. I have a mic I may try to get to work with it. Mod 3 is a keeper, CT7 required very little adjustment. I will post results of any further testing. For a few...

    Washington 858pll low power

Update. Mod one seemed to help a bit, I am using a stock Cobra mic right now, I have a CA-75 power mic I modded some time ago, but the PTT switch is being a little goofy. Mod 2 I did and undid, didn't seem to make a difference in my case? I had 2 friends pretty close to tell the...

    Washington 858pll low power

Yeah, mod 3 I may not use, though I will try it just because, I have an amp I run so really not needed. Mod one and two I will definitely try. Just have have some more room in the mic gain control when I am running the transistor amp, it is so sensative every little back noise i picked up...

    Washington 858pll low power

Ahh, ok, after posting I figured that for the r107, just to make the speaker louder. It's been alot of years since college, so some electronics principle slip my mind, lol. But, I appreciate this info! I have a d104 built, (not d104 anymore), that has a high gain amplifier, and an...

    Washington 858pll low power

Awesome, thank you for sharing the info! I am glad you hopped in here!. Now a few questions. Mod one, sounds great, I am going to try it. The mic is so sensative, a stocker, I have to run the gain at about 1/4. Mod two. Would raising the value or R107 help out here? It is a 5W cement...

    Washington 858pll low power

Well, I talked to the same friend who heard it before, and he said it sounds great. After going thru the TX balance procedure, I am happy with 18-20 watts PEP, but I have it turned back down some. I have to get a good noise cancelling mic though, the mic circuit is super sensitive, just like...
