Actual packing time is under 5 minutes. The rest of the time he is explaining how he is packing it. Impressive - yes - but definitely overkill and a waste of materials in my opinion. A piece of shipping tape would be more than sufficient to seal the ends of the bubble wrap. No wire ties are...
Maybe he thought the naughty Eskimo Nanook that Frank sang about came from Canada? You gotta watch out for that guy...he'll stick a dog doo snowcone right in your eye.
This question was answered for you a couple of weeks ago on Doug's forum.
Can you say CMC?
Get rid of it and you'll get rid of your problem.
I've never bought a grab box from H&Y, but the ones that Rat Shack used to sell were sure a disappointment. You'd get a box full of obsolete ribbon cables, dead batteries and more cheap round magnets than you knew what to do with. Sometimes they'd toss an IC or two into the mix. They'd be stuck...
That was my concern also. I know I wouldn't part with just my 7000 for that price - let alone include a desk mic and antenna tuner. That's a swell of a deal.
I also found that an outdoor antenna worked a lot better for me with the Timewave ANC-4, but most of the interference I'm battling is outside. I know life keeps us busy, but any updates on how the MFJ-1026 is working for you?
Speaking of blow-up dolls...
Can you imagine a felony conviction and up to 8 years in the slammer for a high school senior prank gone wrong?

That's a scene directly from the show Soap that used to be on TV several years ago. The only difference is that the name Mary has been changed to Janet. The Bert in bed with Mary/Janet is an alien.
Thanks for the clarification guys. I didn't realize that bad information could come from so many 'reputable' sources. The above method was mentioned a couple years back in QST magazine, recommended by many of the 'in the know' members of QRZ and also recommended by a few of the locals at a club...
Put your radio in SSB mode with the mic gain turned all the way down. Key up and talk normal into the mic as you slowly increase the mic gain. Keep an eye on your meter, and once you get to where you no longer see an increase in power, stop, then back the mic gain off a hair.
Good hit Doc - I was going to mention the rat-tail also. If the OP is looking to get into local repeaters or do short distance simplex then an HT should do the job just fine. Most repeaters have low power input so up to 5 watts is more than efficient to open the squelch. I can sit in my living...
Yes, I have heard of the newer Wilson antennas (since Barjan bought them out) having a water migration problem. JJD was the first I heard of it, and now that Pro151 mentions it he is the second. I ran a Wilson 1000 on the roof of my GMC T15 for over 10 years and never had a problem with water...
Booty, all you need to do is check out some of the popular antenna sites. Wilson, Larsen, K40, NCG, etc all manufacturer antennas that have an adjustable whip secured with a set screw or two.
That statement may apply to some antennas, but I'd stop short in saying it applies to every antenna. There are several antennas on the market - both cb and amateur - that utilize a stinger/set screw configuration that don't allow water migration. I'm just wondering if it will be more...
I'm wondering if the design will lead to water migration where the whip goes into the lower shaft. Since the diameter of whips vary with manufacturer (and a whip is not supplied) it stands to reason that some may encounter this problem. There have been reports of this happening with some of the...
So, is it just me that detects contradiction between the content of post #12 and #15? Band conditions (propagation) has nothing to do with why you can hear DX, yet the 'explanation' given talks about propagation. :confused1:
I'm also interested in learning what 'your noise level of SWR' is...
