The only thing you could do is have a good tech actually do a receive alignment. Even then the famous RCI "white noise" will still be there. For the last 5-10 years RCI quality has been on a downward slide. I wouldn't waste hard to find Toshiba finals on that radio.
The majority of "cb" amplifiers are class C splatter boxes. There are a small number of nice AB amplifiers that were made. The Palomar tx amps from the 80's, The blue face Cobra xl and Magnum amps, a small number of blue face amps that say Palomar or Galaxy, The bulletproof line that are silver...
I want to say back in the 90's out of the box a Texas Star amplifier was sold as a CW keying unit (wink wink). Once you bought it they would do a conversion where a small cw board was removed that had been connected to the jack on the back of the amp. Most places would convert it for free as...
When the DX is rolling you can catch 909 Tony from Joe Gunn on channel 36 LSB. I think he runs the 8+8 cross. I have been looking at the Skipjack and 4V antennas. I wish the coax connection at the gamma was an SO-239.
Toshiba 2SC2879
is a high-frequency (HF) and very high-frequency (VHF) NPN bipolar junction power transistor. It was primarily designed for use in radio frequency (RF) linear power amplifier applications, especially in equipment such as amateur (ham) radio transceivers, commercial communication...
Yes that is a new version with HG finals. That is a very steep price. For that kind of money I would just have one built below. Just add the class B bias and SSB delay, still cost less and comes with a fan.

The correct final is an RM3 but several threads here on the forum here show people using the 520 or 13n10. Not ideal but you can make it work. The kl40, 60, 200, and 203 used to be considered throw away amps. If you can fixit and make it work why not.
The used amplifier market has gotten ridiculous as far as prices. A good class AB or even B amplifier for SSB use is getting hard to find for a fair price. I would watch the for sale section of this forum. Facebook market place in your local area or a local ham fest are also options. You might...
I know Baofeng's are kinda the Rodney Dangerfield of radio's but that's a good looking radio. For the money it seems like a good buy. I really love my Yaesu FT-70DR but I do have two older Baofeng radio's I use as well.
The only two complaints I have heard is the UV32 has no belt clip and the...
No reply's on this yet. I was messing around and did find this. Not sure how the HG finals behave when they get warm.
Here is what happens in a class AB amplifier when it gets too hot:
Thermal runaway: The core of the issue is that transistors become more conductive as they get hotter. In a...
