My rig uses 2 x irf520 for its final stage. My radio does 10w am/fm and peaks at just over 20 watts on a whistle on ssb. Will they last? Also, anyone know the swr ruggedness on these cheap mosfets?

I used 2 different meters, an avair and a mfj, both of which are relatively accurate and gave the same readings. The radio came with the irf520 dual mosfets as standard and was bought new. Apparently the superstar 3900 has done away with the old rugged 2sc1969.

I've just ordered a new Astatic minuteman 2, but require a second mic for backup. Anyone ever used or currently use a Superstar dm-452 mic? What's the audio like from it please? I will be using it on a Superstar 3900el. Regards.

Sounds like you need to unlock the clarifier. You shouldn't be 10khz off between tx and rx though. Just enter " superstar 3900 mods" into google and you'll find it. It's a matter of clipping a wire and another couple of simple things. Can't remember exactly.
