A good friend gave me an IC V8000, if I get it repaired. I have one problem though. $35 PLUS shipping for a fused DC cord??? Does anyone make an aftermarket cable? If I just had the plug I could wire i the fuses. I guess I could clip the plug off the radio and wire the fuse holders and...

Can I have that nice HD Edition Box??????? As for the length, I used a dipole calculator for 27.5 Freg. Came out just under 8.7' well as I remember, assuming I programmed it right.

The Harley Cobra is going in my bike garage. How does a dipole perform? I have a 2 story barn, and it would hang in the rafters nicely. If i figured correctly, 8.8" per leg. Good plan or better one out there? I hate spending a ton of money on a base for limited usuage.

$10 less than FT-60R. I think I'll keep what I have. I guess it will be closer to the Wouxon at street price.

And I own my 2nd CB. More or less got it to put in my garage with my Softail. Thing has no dings, and everything works. Might have to break down and get an antenna.

The velly eas to plogram. He said the usual translation problems. He said he had the same driver problems as the Wouxon when using the software. He also said he could only hit 2 repeaters, so it was not an issue.

Small world. I visited an OT today, and he had a pristine 101. It's off frequency, but looks like a new unit. He's Elmered me since I started. I would love to get his radio fixed for him. Anyone know if that's possible, or where to turn? I know the shipping is going to be out of this...

I talked to a station this week that just bought one. He's less than 10 miles from the repeater. He used a rubber duck on both. Audio was ok, 2 watts was just not enough to get rid of the noise. If you had an attic antenna, it might work. Then again you use the portability. Not sure...

You can also play "Jericho" with that 101. That's what they used in that TV series after the US got nuked in key cities. Agent Hawkins found it in the basement of a building. They showed a few nice close ups of the radio.
