I thought if the antenna were larger that it might not need to be amplified.
After reading the information on the page that m42duster provided I would consider it as an option.
If you go with the 'room perimeter' loop you might not need to tune it and could forego the variable capacitor.
I did a little poking around on the net and discovered that they have their own active loop antenna. (with their name on it).
Kaito KA35.
It is solar powered but it is quite pricey.
The least amount I saw for was 64$.
Most places wanted 100$.
The link that m42duster provided is similar to...
I was suggesting that you construct your own loop.
I am not really familiar with all the ready made ones that are available.
I see them from time to time when on the net and sometimes I take the time to learn what I can by doing a little googling on the net.
The one you referred to seems...
There are only three common factors in this equation: You, the frequency, the van.
And by "VAN" I am including its native electronics/electrical system and the additional electroncis added by you.
Good luck.
I hope you figure it out and are able to resolve the issue.
I gonna bet that you find it or at least narrow it down to house or building or maybe even something to do with the utilities.
A small loop is a very good choice for locating rfi most of the time. ( that is if the source cooperates in the matter)
The indication offered by a small loop is very...
I think something that has digital electronics is gonna be the culprit.
Can we assume that the radio that was used for the purpose of making the recording was in the AM mode since you said you were gonna utilize a CB walkie-talkie for the purpose of trying to locate it?
Since it is spread out...
I did not follow through with the order but it let me place an order for the 36 inch shaft at GI Joes.

Thanks for the info.
That is good useful and inciteful information.
Should serve to illustrate that after you have done the mod letter for letter that it will most likely take some adjustment (experimental or trial-and-error tweaking ) of some component values to get it to work well.
That post was so full of technical know how and experience it is making my head swim.
Good job showing your ignorance!
If I were you I would be completely embarrased.
Do you try and "TUNE" everything or do you have to take all of it to the "REPAIR" technician?!
You're the one that posted...
Ever see balancing resistors get hot when things aren't balanced, then some just install a larger watt resistor to mask the imbalance rather than finding the problem.
The balance resistors don't get hot because it needs "TUNED'?
Maybe the correct term would be "REPAIRED".
When things are...
I agree 100%
If you double your power you really ain't done squat and to think that adding 10 or 15 watts to your already 30 watts is gonna do anything substantial for you is just hopeful thinking and naive.
If you can't double your power as easy as falling down then it ain't worth screwin' with.
If the Smeter was as indicative as the wattmeter it would be worth the time and the money, but it ain't.
Check back from time to time; Someone might post some guesses.
Even if they weren't so friendly at GDX someone there might see it and post a answer/guess.
I am still working on it; Might take me weeks to finally give up, but in the meantime I will from time to time post some guesses.
I still...
On one hand you are indicating that you know how and what he is gonna do to 'tune' his amplifier, and you want to then quote his post and indirectly direct some comment towards me to not worry because he is gonna tune/balance his amplifiers with the power off; But in the same post you instruct...
Seems about right.....1 month.
I talked to a friend of mine that messes with computers a lot and he had me to clear my driver history and such as that but it still the same.
Anyway it gave me some ideas to try..... if I find the resolution to this situation of mine I will post the about the...
