jim, ok I went to rat shack but didnt find any of those numbers for a regulator. I bought one thats a 12vdc regulator. I put it in and now I have a good solid 5w dk but no swing. the am power has no adjustment, the dk stays the same. I had this problem once before on a 148 and it ended up...

i am not sure, but have heard that rf travels along the edges of the antenna, so thats why they say a flatter, bigger surface area beats a smaller surface area antenna. I am not sure about all this, chances are, there isnt much at all difference in the 10k and monkey.

I looked up some mods for it and on modulation it shows to clip 2 different resistors.

the delta tune is kinda like a clarifier, but a very slight difference is noticed on am.

i guess if it gets that cold here in southeast tx, I will put the whip on. :wink:

any clue what would have caused no am tx, but ssb tx fine? the tx/rx lights red when I press the mic. mic is tested and works fine on my other radios.

I got a monkeymade mm9 today that I wanted to try out. Never had one before. I got a new quad mag mount on my f150 to use it or my 102". I put on the monkey and with no tuning have a 1.3 across the band. Talked to a buddy of mine and had a good 20 miles s5 report running barefoot with my ax144...

nevermind, I found out about pin 3. I guess I will just check it with a meter before I solder her on there.

thanks jim, I will try that. not sure where IC-4 is but I will try it out, I will need to get me a schematic also for the pinout on the regulator so I get the right one. Does the pin just provide 8 volts?

i had a 148 do that one time, only it was 7w dk and nothing else. ended up being a bad voltage regulator.
