    side band?!?!?!?

I'm not sure I agree with cheaper on AM. :) Plenty of DX on 160 AM in the winter but usually only during nets. Most of the AM on 75 in the evening are usually low carrier with peaks of 100-130, some are 30-40 peaks. Round tables are generally Ind, where I am, Mich, IL, Mo, Tenn, Ala, Ga, Tx...

Hook Up a Stereo Connector To A Old Mic Cable

I was curious as where he was using it, a computer or an HT. I,m guessing if he wanted to use it on an HT he would want the ptt and that would be easy on a 1/8 stereo jack. Again, just curious.

Hook Up a Stereo Connector To A Old Mic Cable

You wouldn't need a stereo plug just mono. The two wires coming off the element hook to the 1/8 jack. I.E. white to center the other to ground. Why not just buy a cheap computer mic? Are you actually wanting the ptt hooked up or just the audio? Just curios.

    side band?!?!?!?

80,75,40,15 and 10. AM has a growing popularity. Those Collins etc.... Broadcast rigs sound sweet. Full quieting when conditions are good. Surprising is how well the Flex 5000A and the Super senior solid-state rigs sound, beautiful fidelity. It's all good.

    R&L Electronics?

5 star from me as well. Buying used may be hit or miss, but they have a thirty day return on used equipment.

    Damn lucky trucker.

Should've been down shifting anticipating. It wouldn't surprise me it was a last minute exit or they were talking and oh, I get off here, and oops, no brakes. Safety lockups only occur if air is lost, doesn't help if someone adjusted brakes wrong on the trailer and backed them out, I've had that...

    What to do.....

I have the Tarheel II on the hood of my Ford Flex and the 100AHP on the front bumper of my box truck. They both work well, and as good as the ham sticks I was running. I have a 56" whip on top of the cap hat on the 100ahp and tunes 28.4-3.7 including 11m, works great for road traffic, I hardly...

W9WDX Field Day 10 meter contest THIS WEEKEND!

Probably to far, but a group in Ft Wayne In was demoing old stuff and working 7.885 AM. They had a home brew two watt qrp AM and I received W9TE at s9, then I'm near Indy. Their 30w station much louder. Many on 75 and two on 160 20&15 loaded. Nada on 10 or 6 here.

    CDX Club

Yep, Bill Nadzam, great guy. I actually bought three from him. Yeah he had told me they were not going to do any more of the chipswitch and that was about five years or so ago. Between his and Rogerbirds site, there was great info on modding and tweaking the Lincoln's. Last time. I talked to...

    CDX Club

EEI, thanks Jeff that was driving me crazy. Bought the Ranger 6900 150w version there. Yep all those names are coming back. Rogerbird and also, I'm thinking his name was Bill as well in california where I bought my Lincoln. Nice memories.

    CDX Club

I was trying to remember who all was here before Dean when it was still in a BBS format. It was out of Texas, and all I can remember was peekaboo, loanwolf, Jeff, fasteddie, some from the radio shop and early xforce but my memory is fading. I can't even remember the name of the radio shop...

Who's going to Dayton Hamvention 2012?

BJ, I emailed Tennedyne and Mosely to see if they brought antennas, my question was for the bigger hf stuff. I was told no, but I could order a head of time and they would bring it for me to pick up. Not sure about M2, I've never asked them. Do you see quite a bit of Drake stuff there?

Reaching out beyond 100 miles with VHF/UHF

The main question is answered. If you have the ability, put up stacked arrays or beams for VHF/UHF and you'll get way past your thought on distance. I know guys that hit repeaters 200-300 miles from their location. Nice thing about those frequencies is the antennas aren't so big compared to HF...

I had the pleasure on 75m AM, 40 ssb and 20 ssb. They're working hard.

HF + tuner + Wilson Antenna

That's too bad Morse. There's fun to be had in the mobile. Pick a favorite band and run a hamstick or two or three. I did that b4 I bought the Tarheel II and it works fine, no tuner needed. Just run a nice magnet mount and screw in the band stick you feel like running. I always liked 17m during...

im almost ashamed to ask ........ :(

Doc, you made a great point. Though I have to disagree a bit on the sound quality. I can hear the difference and it does sound better, except when they park 4kc away on a crowded band and they're 6kc wide. Not very enjoyable then. They certainly don't like to be asked asked to park that wide...

    Any FCC busts for DXing?

Yeah, they've pretty much have all that under control now. All the hospitals I work still have no cell phone in the OR, only lounge. But myself and the physicians I work with still do. No problems. I think management just wants everyone to pay attention and not be playing Angry Birds or...

    Any FCC busts for DXing?

Hmm when I studied for my ticket cussing was illegal. Apples to apples, Intentional interference is inference.
