    Any FCC busts for DXing?

It's funny isn't it. Extra ticket hams can cause harmful interference on any frequency, I've heard it too many times. There's even a few on 38lsb that cause constant aggravation. That Chester molester or whatever he calls himself is about to get his call sign announced on 38 by some local hams...

    Any FCC busts for DXing?

To the original post, I haven't heard of that since the late seventies and early eighties. You can talk more than 150 miles without a lot of power. What's getting these headline people in trouble is malicious interference, usually running big power, but not necessarily. What's odd is they...

    Icom 7600

Ok thanks guys. I should've been more specific as well on the scope. Example, when listening outside lke 11 meters the center works on the scope but not the fix feature. I have an SMT station that includes the tweezers, I'm still contemplating taking out the four diodes or just taking out all...

    Astatic red devil mic.

Yes that's what I'm thinking as well. Feels cheap. I didn't open it up and really look at it, just enough to put battery in. Looked cheaper made at that glance

    Astatic red devil mic.

I put one on my Cobra 29LE the LCD version. I get good reports saying it sounds good. But I was surprised, they're not made like they used to be. It was harder to adjust, but it finally did. I've wondered if it was a hit or miss with these new ones. I had purchased the new version of the d-104...

    Icom 7600

Is anyone familiar with this radio that if I did the rx expansion, does the scope work on the frequencies outside the normal operations? Thanks

    Duplex Dweller

Check QRZ and look up LA1BRA. He's a Texan that works oil rig sites. He has the same situation and uses a screwdriver. If you're only using one band or two, get a manual one. They work on 11 meters very well. If you look up his pictures on QRZ you'll see his setup and I've talked to him as easy...

    Icom 7600

That wasn't a problem for me. I'm using my computer usually while rag chewing. I was thinking of it, but on the Icom side, I wasn't about to spend double the price or triple to move up to the 7700 or 7800 to get it. The scope on the 7600 is such a nice improvement over the 756 I'm just enjoying...

    Icom 7600

You'll like that 590 very nice rig. I just liked the band scope on the 756p3 so much. The 590 has a better receive ability to clean up and bring in weaker stations. This 7600 does even better. It's ability of cleaning up the noise to make signals that don't even move the needle, as it were...

How do you hook up a....

Sorry, I thought you were thinking there was 8v wiring from the Yaesu since that's he had. I didn't think any of the four pin radios have any 8v feed to the mics, that's what I was meaning. Bad thing about typing, sometimes it may seem there's some bad feelings or issue implied, but far from it...

    Icom 7600

Well, sold my Icom 756pro III and the Kenwood TS590S and purchased the 7600. On this evening with it and this may be premature, but WOW. What a difference. Makes me think my 756P3 may have had some issues??? The receive on this thing is really nice. Still playing. I didn't give this much for my...

How do you hook up a....

Just a heads up for proper wiring. I believe this should be in the paperwork that came with the mic. I don't believe there's any 8v to that mic. Pretty much like a standard four pin. "The ‘soft touch’ PTT switch is wired to pins 3 and 4 for transmitter control with the microphone signal fed to...

Oh Lord what have I gone and done now?

Yeah, I had the analog phone in my car with 5w and had no dead spots in Indiana. I held on to that till the digital took over and they quick using analog. $1600 to have that installed, man did I look nifty in my little company Mitsubishi. My office manager had the big bag phone. She was green. :p

    COAX CHOKE

There are some components you just can't keep it from. Your offer to buy the tv was probably the only solution. It's what's coming out of your antenna, normal signal. With the age of that set, probably no rfi/emi shielding. As suggested possible that a high pass filter will work, I've not had...

How do you hook up a....

Hey Eastside, post 54 of this thread I explained how to hook your HM12 to a preamp. Two wires stay on the 4 pin mic connector, PTT, ground. Two wires from mic audio, mic ground connect to 1/4" male, audio to tip, ground to sleeve. This plugs into preamp. You need a 1/4" patch cable one end goes...

How do you hook up a....

There's no need for a 3 pin xlr for your setup now. If you go a low z mic, you'll have to buy other stuff. If you preamp the mic you have, you'll have the clean powerful audio. Then if you want to blend it, get an equalizer. Or if you want the w2ihy setup, go that route, great, and its plug and...

Yeppers, :) If you hook up one of those inexpensive preamps, you'll have a power mic. ;)

    Amp,transceiver, tunner hook up.

Proper chain is Radio, amp, tuner last on chain. Coax jumper from ant1 or 2 to rf input on Ameritron. Coax jumper from rf out to transmitter input on tuner and antenna out to antenna. RCA jumper from tx on Icom to rly on amp. RCA jumper from alc on Icom to alc on amp, keep you from overdriving...

So how do others like it compared to other mics you've run on that radio? Just curious. :)
