Weight I don't see beeing an issue. If you had that mounted in a tower so the mast was supported by a bearing at the top of the tower that would be the best. With the push up there well be a lot of side load with whatever winds are blowing on that tall omni above the beam. It probably will be...
I got that one at radio shack years ago and had it in one of my projects box. I did a serch and found them on Digikey I think. I will look and see if I can find that link I posted on another forum. They only sell the one that is twice that size at radio shack now.
270-235 was the part number...
Second day in a row that the northeast has been skipping into the midwest.
Got Conn, RI, Penn in succession. Last contact before jumping on here was with the Mud Duck 424 on L36, turns out that is their local channel. Good conditions lately for sure. WDX 617 on the side.
Well I finally got the antenna up in the air where it is clear of obstructions and the swr check just barely moves the needle off the 1:1 mark. It makes great contacts on DX just made one to 576 in R.I. just the minute on 39lsb. Have talked over 25 miles to a mobile on AM. Try to get that person...
I have a D-104 that I have been running since about 1981 and I always receive complements on how good my radio sounds. The instructions that came with the mic had directions for adding parts to adjust its output for the best sound quality for your particular radio and I made them when I was...
I searched everything I can get my hands on and I can't find that model number anywhere. I found data for model numbers before that one and after that one. Sorry, can you post a picture so we can see what one of those looks like?
Going through some old papers and found a certificate that just kind of fit this site as the title above says. If I remember right you made contact on the radio with someone and then they sent you this certificate. Not sure it was that way or done at some CB gathering that used to have like they...
I always just buy a fifty or hundred foot roll and cut it to fit the job I am working on with a little extra for moving things around and then attach the pl-259s. Have always done it this way weather I am installing the old 102 whip and ball mount or the ones that use the pl-259 on both ends and...
That is good to know 359. His was the first radio of that type that I have ever had the pleasure of working on. I used this site to get all the info I could dig up before I agreed to help him by tuning it. After checking on here for all that I could find and putting it on my bench it looked to...
Yeah the k-40 is a lot thinner than his is. I just attached it to his with zip ties so that it became part of his so I could make it longer and shorter to really see what we needed to do to get his right. By sliding it up and down we could change the length and that made it clear that we needed...
Thanks for all the help guys. I had ordered a replacement K-40 whip, large bird hit antenna going down the highway, and it came in shortly after I posted this.
I went and picked up the whip and went over to his house and decided to try some things since I wasn't convinced he had done the...
Have a friend that bought one of those Monkey Made antennas with the big coil on it and the swr is crazy. It is about 2.1 on 40 and over 2.7 on ch 1. when on the roof using a big mag mount. When attached to the bracket on the bed rail it is over way into the red everywhere.
Has a 4 or 5 foot...
I bought one of those adapters just to try it out and that little thing is sure handy. Now I don't have to dig out one of the new radios to check out a mic. Just slap the adapter in the 148 and plug in the mic and let it go, pretty cool.
Anybody got any friends in Hollywood? Get them to make some movies where cb is a big thing and that would get some interest back in it again. Expecially show some stuff where the cb can be used to call for help or home when the cell phone has no service.
I use my plain old 148gtl for my base...
The part of the antenna above the coil is the part that is putting out your signal. The coil just lets you use a whip that is less than 102" in length. If you have a whip in the antenna that is too short that is what is causing your weird swr readings.
