I was just looking at that kit from RBMicro. I think I would get that one if I needed one. All this talk about these things made me go and dig mine out and hook it to my 148. I had it on a 2000 a long time ago, put a new batt in it and it is talking like the day I put it away back in 1983. It...
Ok here is one that should do what you want to do very well.
Expedition Exchange Incorporated :: Radio Communication :: Diamond Antenna CX210A Wideband Coaxial Cable Switch (CX210A)
I didn't see the very one you were looking for but they have some really neat stuff at this site.
CB Radio Accessories - Miscellaneous | THUNDERPOLE
They might have links for others.
This one says it can be used for what you want to do...
After you get that meter, sounds like a good one by the way, if you have a digital vom I would first put it in parallel with the fuse of the unit and see how much current is flowing that way. If you are getting less than 5 like that then it would be safe to put you meter in the circuit in place...
I was figuring after he followed the advice of those who said put a larger fuse in he could get that information for us if it that plan worked. If it isn't putting out more power than stock or else has some kind of horrible swr then there must be something very wrong with that radio. My 148gtl...
I know how you feel about your astroplane. I kind of wish I had my old ringo also. At least I managed to get a superscanner before they went extinct. It is still in the box but thinking about putting it in the air as soon as I can get some control cable for it. Hope you find yours soon, good...
Going through some old boxs of my radio parts and found this amp buried in the mess. Kicker 125 made in Tempe AZ. That thing is real old. Going to have to see if I can test it to see if it even works when I can get something to provide it with enough current.
I know how you feel. I got my old cobra 148gtl out of storage today and hooked it up to a dipole about 20 feet to the feedpoint and made contacts in Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee within a matter of minutes, man that was fun.
You might check out this CD on EBAY it says it has plans for building your own PDL2.

Good luck.
Best thing I can tell you at this point is to download the tech manual from cbtricks and run all those voltage checks. I think it is really for the older radio but maybe it will get you in the ballpark and help you narrow it down. Good luck and don't give up.
Are you getting those reading into a dummy load or into the antenna? For the most accurate reading for testing you should be going into a dummy load. Going into an antenna can make the readings look off by several watts.
I will have to see if CBtricks has any info on the new style 148. I...
It was a little work getting the spacing and harness correct but it sure was worth it. Back when I was using that setup the band was real crowded and even with the 3 element by itself it was hard to pickup some distant contacts when the ones closer were on the air and causing interference from...
