The thought of npc seemed like a great idea to me. So I did the quick diode mod ppb my 959. I took it out immediately after seeing what it produced on the scope. What I noticed was a large carrier that I could only get so low with high peaks and very fast transition. The carrier was almost flat...
Ok cool that might be what's wrong w a different radio of mine. I used a different core in the output chain. It's complete square wave with straight line carrier
Nah dude, switch is in the right place. It almost seems to me that what ever drives those transistors might be down. Meter move ment works in all positions except receive (in all modes) the nasal sound could be all modes but generally ssb coming from distant. It's power ful signals sound gated...
When I got the radio it was extremely quiet. I figured the transistor was over driven by local linears. I replaced the transistor with a 2sc1674 from an old radio. Now there its good receive on ssb and even weaker signals. But when a loud signal comes thru it sounds like "honking" or "gatey"...
Yea.. im not going for the super hog.. I want audio on this radio. I only want receive mods, open clarifier, and possibly npc if I can get it right on the scope.
Does the diode get it pretty close or did it take major surgery after you put it in. I'm pretty good but not a pro tuner.
Ex13 May...
Woh dude, seen too many threads like this..? Yeesh just brain storming.. btw I don't currently own any amps I didn't build from scratch. Dig you read my post or just respond to the title? I'm just day dreaming here probably won't do any of it.
The spot on the pcb looks so lonely with no...
I honestly want the dual to do like 25 super clean watts. How could biasing be hard? W meter it's 3.5v right? I haven't got there yet w this radio? Seriously I might not be seeing it correctly, but all the spots are already on the board begging for it lol even a trimmer, as long as you had...
I know this has been covered a few times but please hear me out. I've yet to come across the purpose I'm looking for. I have a 2011 model so it already uses the fets. I love this radio, I want to get the most of it. I'M NOT LOOKING FOR SUPER WATTS!!
I haven't seen many reports on success...
It's weird. When I was at home in the country the receive its good and loud as hell when I get to sav the volume drops dramatically. 2 days in a row. It's got to be agc. I don't think the 2999 it'd in it. I replaced the diodes with bat41s
This radio is right out of the box. The only thing I've touched its the opamp on the input circuit (changed to burr Brown higher quality).
The receive its voice but it's like there's a compressor circuit in the radio out something that's killing loud audio. It is set to high or something...
