Quickstop, I really cant imagine the 200 GTL behaving very well on a cigarette lighter plug. Just take the time and run you apower wire from the battery. The plug on the back looks like some of the ham rigs outthere , so a spare power cord shouldnt be too bad to come by.

You need to ground the radio chassis. Then ground your amp (if running one) Then make sure you use seperate grounding wires . Radio to chassis, Amp to chassis. Not radio + amp+chassis.

Go with the Astatic 636L Noise Canceling Mic, or the Telex-Turner RK-56 if you have a Deep voice. No need to Waste your coin on a power mic, if radio is tuned right, antenna system is right, then all you need to do is clean up back ground noise. And , a power mic, IMHO, is not for that.

Mic will not key up, Changed battery and noticed the power connection for battery is pulled off the board. Could this be my culprit? Its a 6 pin, hooked to a President Jackson. Any suggestions? 73 :wow

Best coax length for a 102"SS whip. I run 27.185 occasionally (about 50%) and 27.385 LSB (the other 50%) I know the rule of thumb is 18' , but I am also a firm believer that the rule of thumb is for busting lol
