Different Look At 102" Whip Discussion

Hey Booty, just for curosity sake, that length would probably be more in the instance of a poor groundplane? With a better performing ground plane, the vertical would be a bit shorter?:pop:

Ok here is the exsisting element spacing. Reflector to driven = 84.344" Driven to D1 =56" D1 to D2 = 72.188" D2 to D3 = same D3 to D4 = same This is as close as my Fatmax 25' can get! Guess this spacing is what I have to work with unless I start all over from scratch with differant...

    Rebuilding a 6 element quad

I recently came across an old Lightning 6 antenna. The wire and the matching system was beyond repair. The boom and the fiberglass spreaders cleaned up good as new. Got all new hardware to put the boom together, sanded and painted the spreaders, and now need to make a decision. I was in touch...

    Resonating coax

Hey hookedon6, didn't mean it that way, you are right it doesn't change the accuracy. Was just suggesting that moving the meter to differant places on the transmission line can change the reading a bit. And booty you are right, a 1/2 wave will show an exact reflection of the feedpoint reading...

    Resonating coax

What Beetle said.........the only thing they were successful in doing was making the swr meter read close to what the antenna read at the feed point. The only reason I would ever do it is if I was gonna run an inline meter and I wanted it to read close to what the analyzer read at the feedpoint...
