I first tried using CW Decode using a pre-recorder WAV file. It didn't work so well although I'm not terribly sure I had it configured correctly. I loaded MultiPSK on to my computer and looked like a good solution. Unfortunately the free version will not read WAV files. Takes $45 license and at...
Yep your right. In LSB the center frequency is 28.246Mhz. I'm just scratch the surface of knowledge of such things but don't you need a two tone generator to realign. Sending the Optima back and forth to New Zealand is just about the cost of the radio so that's not an option. I assume if I find...
I found this beacon which must be close to me because I hear it clearly all the time.
I believe it is this one:

I just do not understand morse code so I can't tell. I tried a PC based...
Glad to here your experience with the BC907 mic. Maybe it is not the best idea. If I make an error connecting the receiver audio and kill the Optima, there's no fixing it.
I looked at the ZOXN ZX-777 but the frequency it operates on maybe a problem. I have not found any others.
I have an Optima in my 4x4 and thought this wireless mic would be cool at the campsite.
I would need to make an adapter but being kind of new at this I'm not sure about a few things.
Here is what I've figured out so far:
Optima mic pinout
Pin 1 - Mic Input
Pin 2 - +8VDC
Pin 3 - Freq Up/Dn...
Okay, this radio sounds workable. It's surprising how difficult it is to find room for transceivers in these small, older trucks. Anyways if I come up with anymore questions I'll start a new thread...this is kinda off topic.
PS. I passed my Tech license test with a 100%...can't wait to get my...
That was quick, thanks.
I only have 2 " of space under the truck seat. Can the main unit be mount to the carpet floor or would ventilation holes be covered? Or would it be best to re-drill the bracket to have 1/4" clearance top and bottom?
Hello,
I'm taking my HAM test this Saturday and am think of buying the IC-2730a as my first mobile rig. I plan to mount the main unit under the seat of my truck but there not much clearance there. Can someone tell me the height of the IC-2730 with the MFB-4 mounting bracket installed.
Thank you
