I have a Cobra 18 WX ST ll with the Sound Tracker button. It sounds good when you are listing to another stock radio but when you hear radio's with a lot of swing on the meter they sound gargled. My Uniden 78 XL filters are a lot better.
I have a Midland 75-785 with the rubber duck antenna. It uses 9 AA Batteries AKA 8-10 dollars. The only time i could hear anybody was if they where within 300 feet or when i held it out the window. I also pick up a lot of engine static.
I picked up the antenna this morning and it look like it did when i sold it. I put it on my old 20' TV antenna pole and already made several of contacts with some locales. So I'm 100% back on the airwaves :D Thanks for the help 8)
I think i have finally figured it out Push Wacky Pack :D Don't like it get banned. I think he is taking advantage of newbies. Beware That's just my opinion :?
I used to have a 30 foot push up pole with 20 feet of old fence pipe attach to my house with no guidewires, but i was always worried that it would fall. I say yes for peace of mind.
I will pick it up this weekend or the next. I will let you all know how it turns out. He only wants 20 dollars for it but i sold it to him for 40 dollars six years ago.
Thanks, He never use the antenna and the most i ever put in it was about 200 watts. I will use my backup radio ( Cobra 18 WX ST 11 ) I don't want to take a chance with my new Uniden 78 XL.
Hi everyone
After being out of the CB hobby for 5 years i decided to join in on the fun once again. A friend of mine has my old Solarcon A-99 antenna i was wondering if it's still any good?
5 years on a pole outside and 6 years in the garage.
Any help would be much appreciated :D
My first antenna was a Lil Wil magnet mount on top of my 10x14 metal shed.
My first radio was a Uniden PC 66.
I am learning a lot from this great Forum Thanks :D
