Yeah, you can skip the bill of materials, but the alignment and schematic at least. The diagrams would be nice but not a deal breaker. Did I get this radio from you?
Hawk, after alignment if I come across a radio that has any real static or hash with nothing plugged in, aside from a cobra 29 (misadjusted if amp) I would proactively replace the first RF amp and the mixer following. As a post above said, that first amp can take a beating. I would use whatever...
A noisy RF amp transistor or mixer transistor in the front end can cause lots of hash and distortion. I have seen it a few times. But 7 units? With the radio unplugged from the antenna at the back of the radio, do you still get the hash?
Edit to add, unless you are replacing a faulty diode or...
Same part, different manufacturer, different number. As long as the pin out is correct, which it is. If you do replace them, consider that the orientation is opposite from ic4 and ic5 as indicated by the dot noting pin 1. You could replace just the one, but I will replace both. Also, verify the...
It's a CD4008 binary adder.

There are 2 adders in this radio, near the pll chip. They are identical chips. I found some Soviet era chips on...
Idk, I have the same username and no issue, also I didn't know the secret sign and just emailed goldfinger, he told me and activated me quickly. He is very nice and professional. He recently had his PC power supply die and wasn't able to activate accounts, but he is back online so try again.
I have on many occasions seen the 4008 adders fail unexpectedly. I rarely find a faulty channel switch, and it was usually obvious it had failed. Figuring the logic values is the only way I have verified a failed adder. It is very time consuming. Now, if I suspect an adder, I replace it.
I just opened my last jar of everyday no-clean flux paste and it's not available anywhere anymore. I have to use another brand to restock. I like to keep a few options on hand for the different soldering tasks. So, what flux do you use? Why?
That is very sensible. If you keep learning, you will one day be equipped to repair it. When discouraged by my lack of knowledge and skill I say to myself "I am not smart enough today, maybe next week or next month I can fix it". Let it rest awhile and with enough time and thought, look at it...
Good point about ranger and the tolerance of parts used. Temperature is a variable in the function of all electronic parts it seems, I have used hot/cold on things like transistors but never to check for faulty capacitors. The tidbit on charges piling up and leveling, that trick is definitely...
Thanks for looking. All checks were performed with the shorting bar removed and sniffing with the sdr, so no ssb linear issues from incorrect PA bias. I found 2 electrolytic capacitors faulty, replaced but no fix. This radio is probably needing a recap.
