Mike uses quality caps in his kits, I don't know if shipping has skyrocketed in Canada and that drove the price up.
He is a member here, might contact him and see if he could find a cheaper solution for shipping.

I
I am confused
If it is tx'ing on 13 MHz I don't see how audio mods will help.
I think Bill posted a, sort of NPC mod, for this one somewhere on the forum before,
I will look when I have time.

That looks good, the band is not in the best shape for now but as summertime fades the band will pick back up.
You are going to have fun with that little set-up I think.

After the Swl check in they have members who check in on vintage old cb radios, super cool...
It's the FCC 40 channel version I think?
I remember someone suggested it was a 979 board or something going by the fcc data plate seems it was single final ..
There is a tread here from couple years ago

The thing I like about Qixiang is there willingness to listen to consumers and make changes in production based on that feedback.

Be aware Johnson sold a kit to use these radios in positive ground vehicles, after installing the kit there was a sticker that was to be placed on the back of the radio to inform anyone else that it has been changed.
Make sure you have a lower value fuse in the power cord first time you hook it...
Yes, the manual shows a short wire used to ground the radio from a case screw to the mounting bracket.
Item number 8 short wire with screw terminals on it.

You might want to have a nice clean unmolested 40 channel CB at your desk just in case.
I doubt this type of complaint will escalate to a person actually showing up, but I have seen them show for enforcement actions in the past and they can ask to see your station under the rules.
I sure hope...
There is a guy that sells a pre built add on kit that goes in the radio.
Here are the instructions for one of the Galaxy radio base stations..
