Worked Colorado on 2 meters this morning. 980 air miles contact from Illinois. Done SSB NOT ft8...
6 was wide open also. Had a pile running on ssb.. over 80 contacts in a row.. then I had to go QRT.
Great day for 50 mhz and up fun!!
Well it went just as I thought it would. Checked the radar after I got all my ducks in a row.. had a "window" i figured i could get up the tower and pull up the 6m beam. Get it all buttoned up and back down before the rain started. Sure enough.. about the time I got to the top and got the boom...
Looking to haul the 5 el 6 meter beam back up the tower tomorrow...will probably have to dodge a few rain drops. My luck, if I don't put it up 6 will be wide open this weekend.
I plan to be active on 6,2,222,432 &1296 this weekend.

Been putting out calls on 35 usb and also on 26.805 fm.. not having much luck lately. Easy contacts in 35-40 lsb.. Had a few good QSOs above 40 today..
I think Uniden looked at the numbers. They probably sold 20 scanners for every 1 cb. They shifted to cater to the scanner enthusiasts and not the cb guys... more $ to be made.. not to mention the radar detector market they have their hands in..
Glad you got it figured out. It's easy to miss the version needed since there are multiple versions for the same model.
I went down the Kenwood programming road a couple years ago. I picked up several of the TK 981s to use on the 900 mhz amateur band. It also used the same software as you used...
I made several calls on 35 usb today.. nada. I always have heavy AM traffic from south of the border on 35.. Made several west coast and Canada contracts on 36 & 37 LSB all short ones. Slid down to .360 had a 10 minute chat with a dude in Cali.
