It may offend some but I would take a 2547 over a Cobra 2000. Its a lot easier to get them clean and loud. Extra channels with just 2 switches.

I really like these, even with all the new radios on the market I think my next mobile will be the Alinco dx-10, they are tuned for a dynamic mic unlike the Lincoln 2+. Basically a 447 with ssb.

That thing will blow a Golden Eagle right off the desk. Already has wideband receive for the other stations on channel 6.

I have come to the conclusion vintage radios need a vintage tech, The guys that saw all of the problems when these radios were new. Thankfully there are still a few good vintage techs out there to help with the boat anchors we love.

The trick with stability on the 2547 is to leave it pluged in all the time. The switching power supply will stay warm and keep the thing pre heated, otherwise it takes 20-30 min to stabilize.

After I had my 2517 for about a year vr14 am/fm high power went out on me.

There is a service manual, with full schematic and part layout/ list. Any president dealer will have no trouble obtaining it. Now finding a service manual for the quad 6 pro may be more difficult.

Sigma venom is a good choice, handles up to 1000 watts fm and cost about $100 delivered.
