I have the same mfj loop, whenever I use it i just tune it off my radio swr meter, I never trusted the mfj meter, just tune to lowest swr on the radio and transmit away!

did you ever try just using another test coax,, maybe 20-30' long and just check it with your analyzer right outside? or did you ever try just a plain old swr meter inline

1.5:1 SWR really isn't bad,, if your that worried about the radio not seeing a perfect 1.1:1 swr just put a small tuner inline,,, no one is going to tell the difference from you running 1.1:1 or 1.5:1 swr so now your back to 1.34:1 swr on 27.385,, perfect run it

that last graph with the rings down low looks to be about 1.5:1 swr,, whats wrong with that? yes its not perfect 1.1:1 but still very usable,, might just be the mounting situation / height / objects near by,, run it and see how it performs

personally I think I would have taken the spring out instead of cutting the whip down,, your going to need to tie the whip to something with the spring on there its going to be flopping all over the place when you get on the highway

mine is around 4-5yrs old mounted up in a pine tree 43' to the feedpoint with branches hitting it every time the wind blows and its still going strong

what mode are we talking here , AM or SSB?? because it is very possible on AM for someone to give you a great signal/meter reading and have low modulation on their end

you said the 102 whip is bolted to the frame and coming up between the box and cab of the truck,,, your way too close to the cab and box, the whip cant be running that close to the cab and box,, get the antenna out from between the cab and box,, there is too much metal surrounding the antenna...

yes you need to put the radio into service mode
