    Icom IC735 60 meter mod

Much thanks. I really would enjoy playing on 60m for regional comms since 40 hasn't been too good lately.

    Icom IC735 60 meter mod

Thanks so much CK! I still haven't looked inside but I tried transmitting at 27.555 and no power out. Seems like I need to do the mars mod. I really thought that this radio had been modded since I'm on 7395 a lot. Ooops! I take the fifth on that. Thanks so much guys.

    Icom IC735 60 meter mod

Thanks guys. I need to take a look inside. It's had the mars mod done(maybe?) since it already transmits out of band. When I'm at 60m(5357 specifically) and press the ptt on FM, display changes from rx to tx but no power out. On SSB, same thing but still no power out when I speak into the mike.

    Icom IC735 60 meter mod

Greetings gurus, I am in the Philippines are we have a new band allocation on 60m. Fortunately, we are allowed to work any frequency from 5.351.5 to 5.366.5 without channel restrictions. So here's my question, is there any mod that can be done to my IC735 to make it tx on 60m? Thanks in advance.

40m dipole w/low center feed point

Tried a 40m dipole at around 12 foot high apex and ends 4 feet high. Still worked better than nothing. :)

    Yaesu M100 Desk Mic

I have heard one on air. The audio can approach 9 rack processing. It was with an FTDX5000 on 4Khz bandwidth transmit. If you are into that kind of stuff, this probably would tickle your fancy. Not me though. More expensive than radio haha.

    Project: Homebrew tuner

Yep, with the help of a very kind amateur, I finally got the parts for a tuner. I hope I can make this work. Diagram seems pretty simple. Woohoo! interesting days ahead.

    Long wire question

Thanks Cap. Haha yes. I agree.

    Long wire question

Thanks for the feedback so far but I'm gonna have to ask more questions. How long should my counterpoise be if I have a 58 foot random wire that I'll use on 40m? Hehe yeah, technically it would no longer be a "random" wire if I have a specific length. If I need a ground rod, how do I...

    Long wire question

Planning to get something like this case and put radio, tuner, power source in. Might be able to fit a coil of magnetic wire in too. Besides I'm probably not going to wander too far from the vehicle. :D Hhhmmm good to know. Thanks. :)

    Long wire question

Gotta try that someday. For now, that seems to be beyond my capacity to make. :)

    Long wire question

True, but I also consider the guidance of the more experienced hams as invaluable. :)

    Long wire question

That's an excellent suggestion, thank you. Why couldn't I have come up with that myself? :D

    Long wire question

Thanks, no amp. Even if I did have one, it would be kinda hard to lug it along in the go box. :)

    Long wire question

I'm needing some input again guys. I am building a go box basically just for field operations and not so much as a prepper and I got an MFJ16010 long wire tuner. What's the best way to set this up? From my research, some people say I don't need a counterpoise and some say I do. Which is...

Thanks, that's really interesting and if so bad luck for us newer hams. :(
