These are along the lines of what you should be looking for especially if you are going...
There is no comparing a "CB amp" to a true ham amp in build quality or performance! If you want an amp to bleed all over the band and enjoy waiting for everyone to go to bed before you use it then you can go with a D&A,Varmint or something along those lines. You know,a cheaply made amp that...
Even the Icom does it! Sounds like a ground problem to me if the 746 does it.
Have you looked at dxzone.com? You may be able to find some help their, god knows that site has all kinds of info on it.
I have one of these www.jogunn.com - Smokin' Gun II
It was a freebie so i thought i would play around with it,got nothing else to do this weekend.

This is a Galaxy in name only and you will not see the numbers out of this thing as you will a 77,88 or 99. More or less all a 959 is, is a glorified cobra 148GTL!
Now, allow me to say something about those mods.
You are not going to see much more than a clean 20 watts out of these radios...
Does anyone know how to wire a mike for this radio? It has the factory plug, kinda like a stereo plug not a 4 pin or 5 pin. I looked on the net but i can find anything.
I want to use just a factory Galaxy mike on this. Thanks.
Yes he did. Any of the 4 strykers all went to the same guy after i got them for a complete check up. This person not only works on CB radios but ham radios as well and his job is to work on all types of communication equipment for the state and local government so i can assure you that he does...
