    11 meter is very quiet?

Once conditions get this good I pretty much have to stay off 37 through 40. It is literally wall to wall with huge signals from folks running 1000 watts when 10 watts would do the job fine. On top of that you have the 1111111111 guy, the crying babies, the angry political & racist rants, the...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Tons of fun today. Scotland, multiple Northern Ireland stations, Wales, Spain, and the icing on the cake 266DA/0 from Kiribati Island in the South Pacific. 27.540, 570, 580, 610 all USB. Seems like the band is open almost worldwide right now! Get 'em while they're hot folks!

    10 meter is very quiet?

LOL. Check the "11 meters is very quiet" thread! There's some unfortunate souls on there who never have conditions even though everybody else does....... and when they do have conditions nobody can hear them! Radio is like real estate it seems.......You gotta have the right conditions, and...

    What is this?

Maybe some kind of filter? Or a really cheap surge protection circuit in there?

    11 meter is very quiet?

Cooking out here on the west coast! QSO with Missouri at S9+20, then contact with Wales, England and France up around 27.555 and above. Heard some exotics including 327 division Slovenia and 55 division Gibraltar as well..... Best conditions since last spring. It just keeps getting better...

    Barefoot Shack

Very nice Crawdad! I'm a big fan of keeping it simple like that. Just the equipment that is needed to do the job well and nothing more........ By the way, I have that exact same 24 hour clock!

    11 meter is very quiet?

Just got back from the shop. Talked to Rhode Island, then Maryland and then four Texas stations in a row on 37LSB, then had a 30 minute chat about antennas with 717 Pensacola on 36. S9 & better signal the whole time! An hour ago the entire US East coast was in here all the way from Maine to...

    "New" President Washington consensus?

After the 880/980 fiasco with the failing screens and the Lincoln 2+ fiasco with the bad receive audio & other issues I have lost faith in President. You can buy an Anytone/CRT/Radioddity or you can spend twice as much for half the radio and go with a President LOL. I have heard the new...

    11 meter is very quiet?

For the most part conditions up here have been pretty good. There's the odd day with less DX than normal but mostly it's been great. South, Northeast and Southeast US booming in almost every day with tons of Texas, Florida, Gulf Coast, Carolinas, Indiana, Illinois, New Jersey, New England etc...

    RCI 2995DX no transmit power

Have you tried another mic? A lot of these kind of problems are caused by mic issues, usually with either the switch, cable, or plug. Try a different mic and then let us know if it is still having problems..... Is transmit without audio on both AM and sideband?

    Interesting Antenna Height Question...

For skip work there is no point in going higher than 36 feet unless you have objects such as buildings that the antenna needs to "see" over the top of. For local, the higher the better! Raising an antenna 20 feet will be roughly equivalent to doubling your power. So to answer your question...

    Best slug for 300-800 watts

LOL! That's right........ You ask the gentleman on the phone for a price quote and he says "Are you sitting down sir?" before giving you the price!

Old School vs New School CBs: Which do you like ??

Excellent! I was fairly sure the HS4 had it. On my Anytone I run it at level 1 or sometimes 2. I find higher levels make stations sound overly 'robotic'.

Old School vs New School CBs: Which do you like ??

You can easily tell whether or not it has noise reduction. Find an open channel with just static. Turn up squelch till sound stops. Then turn squelch back down......if the volume of the background noise drops noticeably in the one or two seconds after you turn the squelch back down then you...

Who else thinks they are blocking the skip with chemtrails or haarp?

There's a heck of a lot more to propagation than "flux spots" or sunspots my friend! For one thing, the influence of those spots is largely dictated by the direction they are facing.....and sunspots only affect propagation if they release a flare or CME. Solar flux has more influence than...

    Pricey, but interesting

I'm surprised you need a fan on that radio. It's the same circuit inside as the Anytone 5555N2. I have that Anytone version and I can yak all day on sideband at 60+ watts PEP and while the heatsink does get hot, it's never too hot to touch and there's no power loss even when it does heat up...

President Dwight D CB Base Station

Is there a way to get to the back to push the shaft back out? If not then the only other possible way I can think of would be to use one of those super powerful rare earth magnets to pull it out. However if the shaft is pushed in tight that might not work either........... You may have to take...

    Anytone at-5555 PLUS

I remember talk about the plusN too but like you I'm not sure it was ever released. I know I've never talked to anybody using one....... I have a feeling that once they came out with the original 5555N2 they decided not to release the plusN. Pez would know for sure; hopefully he'll jump in...

Old School vs New School CBs: Which do you like ??

I love the look of the old school radios, especially the 148GTL. I love the nostalgia of running those old rigs. But I really value function over form, so my Anytone 5555N2 has become the radio I use daily. My old Cobra, President and Navaho radios are all put away in a cupboard. The new...
