    Small SSB radio?

Most are chick cars. Contrary to popular belief VWs are decent cars. 1.8 liter turbo, 180hp @ the flywheel factory, and would get 29mpg @ a 75mph cruise. I reprogrammed it soon after I got it and it should've been right @ 225hp @ the flywheel. When I'm done it should be a mild 250-300whp (tune...

It's actually an ash tray and lighter combo thing.

    Small SSB radio?

It's going in a MK4 VW Jetta. Here's the hole. I'll have to cut a hole into the side and stuff the stereo wiring into the dash before putting a CB in there. There's ductwork in the back. I may can get another inch of depth by cutting that piece off along the back with a guide hole for the...

    Small SSB radio?

I'd like it to sit flush. My car is a 6-speed and the stick isn't too far from the dash as it is. With my 980 in the 'Yota the mic plug is right where 1st gear is. I had to relearn how to hold the shifter so it wouldn't skin up my knuckles.

    Small SSB radio?

My single din hole is 7x7x2.5 inches. That's all the room there is for wiring and heat dissipation. After reading up on that Midland 79-290, I'm leaning that way due to it's size mainly. Any thoughts about using a Trucker 5000 mounted from the gap between the hood and right fender? I may...

    Small SSB radio?

I measured my 980 and this hole and this hole isn't deep enough. This hole isn't as deep as the hole in my 'Yota. I barely got an aftermarket stereo in it.

    Small SSB radio?

I'm not really concerned with extra channels more so than the SSB. It really makes the time pass on those 7-8 hour drives.

    Small SSB radio?

I'm looking for a small Uniden 510/520 sized radio with SSB I can dash mount in a car. The Magnum 257 fits the hole, but is too deep for my car. Are there any others I've missed that may be shallower in depth?

    Uniden 980 SSB

203, 205, & 206 should get you spot on for an amp. Hook up an inline meter and turn those pots until ideal output is reached.

    Add an amp

AM, I think mine is at 1w DK and 4-5ish PEP. With the amp it's a 20w DK and mid 80s PEP. SSB is at 7w. I could get a little more out of it. But will it really matter?

    Add an amp

I've ordered a 2nd kl203p for my car. I've had one in my truck for about a year, but I don't beat it up. Running a wimpy 980 into it and adjusted the deadkey for a better 'swing' ratio. I haven't decided what Ima run into the other 203p in my car yet.

I've got a BC980 and some 33s for my 1st gen Tacoma. You're gonna probably want a good magnet mount on top of that Cherokee, too.
