    Just passing an idea

When I was in TN I played with a lot of homebrew wire antennas. One of my favorite antennas was a mobile mount on a ground rod with a 102” CB whip pruned to 10m with buried radials. Then I wanted to work other bands without a tuner, so I took some 3/8x24TPI bolts and drilled them lengthwise...

If your a Ham Radio Op and stranded on the side of the road in snow...

Ditto. The guys at my cabin towers are augmented with 1/4 wave guyed radials. The tops are fudged closer to other guys than I'd like, but haven't presented any problems yet.

    Hams on CB

Personally I think the initial post is FUNNY! And yes, it sounds like a 'sour grape' whimper. I use a CB here (WY) because the repeaters are too far apart & not elevated enough. We drive daily in areas that are cellular voids! Effective communications can sometimes mean the difference...

    Wavelength help

I'd use plug connections over 'gators any day of the week. Unless you live in an area that absolutely never ever gets a breeze of any description. The initial post given I believe was for a 40 meter antenna. You can make an antenna cover the 40 meter spectrum, or a good portion of it, by...
