@BJ radionut @Blackcat630 the 43 acres ill be building a tower on is 2 miles away by road from an airport. Its not busy. But again learning new things everyday. Some chicken lights for the tower! :) 10-4 good buddy lol
@BJ radionut well shoot if thats the case imma send it up as high as I can get it, or untill the city can spot it from town hall. Lol I learn new stuff every day about this hobby. I thought the height restriction was for the band itself didn't know it was a restriction on the operator. Thanks...
I thought this might be the best radial set up for the 102 whip. @sp5it
My main question is if my trees are higher than 60 ft am I allowed to go above 60ft or am I restricted to a max height of 60ft for the 11m band
Currently I have the antennas radials mounted at or as close to 45⁰ as possible. Tied off using parracord.
If I go higher. For the radials I thought I'd take some small aluminum tubing or pvc pipe and wire.
Attached to a mounting bracket all the radials will set at 45⁰. Mfj and others like...
If 11m is basically line of sight, and the fcc says a cb antenna can't be any higher than 60ft. Or 20 ft above the building or tree in which its mounted If i had an 80ft tall tree am I restricted to 60ft or would I be allowed 20 ft above tree?
The reason I'm asking this question is for a...
Hello yall! Just wanted yo see who if anyone on here is from Arkansas or Southern Missouri that run an 11m rig. Ive been on and off for about a month now and uve found a few guys locally on ch37 usb.
Anyways if you're in the north central Arkansas south central Missouri area drop a handle and...
@Slowmover ive read alittle on the mfj model too both are identical from what i see. Some reviews on DX E say returns of the Ameritron are difficult or maybe not possible and @Moleculo has a post specifically for the mfj. I think I need to stop being a pussy foot about which one to get and just...
I appreciate all the input! @Slowmover @543_Dallas I had a radio tec tell me they use an
Ameritron 75 Amp Switching Power Supplies SPS-75MV
https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/ame-sps-75mv
What are your thoughts on this guy? The price isn't too bad and it has a decent cushion if you will from...
@secret squirrel @mrgumby @sp5it @sunbulls @Dmans
She's up and working now! It was just the mic good clean sounding radio and after a good cleaning shes pretty too! Not bad for a 5 dollar yardsale find
Would a ferrite choke on the power leads help with that? @543_Dallas
Mower junky on YouTube recycled a computer power supply with chokes on the power leads and he had a pretty flat noise level
@oldtymer I'm a big fan of only spending money once so ill definitely check out palstar if itll work well with the kenwood ts-520s and my galaxy dx98vhp on 10m it might be just what I'm looking for that and from what I see the prices for smaller models aren't far out of my price range! I...
The kenwood ts-520s is a steal no doubt..... 150.00 in working order from the original owner.
I also ran across this locally
The guy is asking $700 but I'm more interested in 20 and 40 meters 2m is really popular around my area from what I hear on 11m and 6m would be fun to get into not to...
@BJ radionut @Justme @Slowmover @543_Dallas
Would yall recommend the powermax 100amp power supply?
I was on my president madison talking to a guy 15 miles out and he recommend this specially. Just thought I'd get some opinions.
Here's a link to one of many websites that show stats...
@Lkaskel @codeman would you recommend the power max 100amp powersupply I was talking on my president madison to a local about 15miles away and he recommend it for the dx98vhp
@BJ radionut ill definitely inquire!
What do you think about the Dentron mt 3000a
These two pieces are from a local ham. He wants about $930 for both any opinions?
They sure don't beat the price of the one you showed @BJ radionut
I will post more and surely be asking alot more questions once I have it. I still have to get my license so getting on the air will take a little time we all know how lengthy an antenna set up or "farm" can take and i thought i was picky with how perfect i could get an 11m antenna. Looks like...
Not sure if it comes with any extra equipment or even an antenna ill know more when I go to pick it up but for now here is a picture of this clean little radio
The guy im getting it from is a local licensed ham operator so im assuming its true to 10m and not converted to 11m
I recently came across a nice kenwood ts-520s. What is the best antenna to get for this radio? Do they have a single multi band antenna that works better or the same as each band having its own antenna? Any input on the best way to set this radio up is greatly appreciated
I've got a 4 pin astatic truckstop mic. Nothing fancy. Ill check again to see if the buzzing stops. It does seem like someone has been in the radio just based on the flux left around the board.
I've got some old midland mics ill check with it. Not sure if they are in any better quality though.
