This may be the answer I am looking for. Looks like Sirio P5000 quality without the adjustable angle. It is about 80 inches tall if the specs are correct which makes it slightly taller...
My P5000 is off of my F250 for now. I can't seem to keep it from leaning backward by slipping at the joint. I have tightened it incredibly hard with tools and the other day I noticed it was leaning back a few degrees again.
As to the water intrusion into a Sirio, I have not seen any of that and...
I have been waffling backward and forward about the Optima for a couple of months. I bought a used (like new) MKIII from Duster and I am glad I did it. It is a very nicely built radio.
Just a few notes that may help others here and elsewhere:
The plastic electrical connector on the radio...
I have a chance at a Texas Star 350HDV for $100. This is a "high drive" amp. What does this mean to me compared to a 350DX? Will it work fine with a fairly stock SSB CB? How many amps dead key and swing will make it work well?
Are the black Aussie Grant XL's (made in Philippines) identical to US chrome versions except the color? I did finally find that the freq range is the same. I like the black case but shipping is gonna be high. :tongue_smilie:
I am trying to decide on a old school SSB Grant or Cobra with a 2...
What is the procedure to allow for 11 meter operation on current shipping Optima MKIII ?
Didn't it go from just moving a jumper to now having to solder on the board?
Just another thought. The only negative about the Sirio roof mount is that the coax is shorter than most other mounts. It was long enough for my truck as I came down the pillar between the doors but with an SUV if you were to mount the antenna further back it may be too short to reach the radio.
Well.....I sold every radio I had including my General Lee that was in the truck (waiting for the antenna) to buy a new radio. I have almost decided on a RCI2970N2 but am considering waiting for all of the new radios supposed to be out this spring.
My wife's Expedition has a Wilson hard mount...
Got my Sirio Performer 5000 and Sirio hard mount installed today. Everything went smoothly and I believe more than ever that this is the best all around mobile antenna. I have only had this truck about 3 months (previous Expedition was totaled by my daughter) and I will need to do some bonding...
I have read that. Anyone know if Bell's does this?
I do not want the radio touched except to expand it, and I can do that as long as the seller doesn't steal from the box.
Really close to just pulling the trigger on a 2970N2. I sold the General Lee from my truck, so I am without any radio until I finally decide what I want.
I would love a HF Ham setup, but I have almost given up, the used prices are crazy on ebay.
Anyone have a mint Icom 706MkIIG I can get...
