All "export" radios are prohibited by the FCC for sale within the USA and have been for quite a while now. So are amps. But many people don't know this or don't care. eBay, being a business, has to toe the line on all sorts of things.

A news story indicated that police SWAT teams were at the church. When survivors were told the men were not alive, several fights broke out and at least one person who rushed mine officials had to be wrestled to the floor. I can't blame people for being angry. It had to be twice as bed having...
Yeah. You can get the list for free from the FCC, why pay for it??
eBay has to block auctrions of certain of these radios because it is illegal to sell them in this country.

If you want those freqs so badly, why haven't you filed a petition with FCC or NTIA to relase them for civilian usage? Don't go grumbling at the hams, we don't control anything. We have the 10 meter amateur band and the 12 meter amateur band to operate from. And yes, we don't like unlicensed...
I can't "read" this stuff! I learned code strictly by ear and "written" code means nothing to me at all! Ywt I can copy Morse by ear to 20+ wpm on the radio on a good day.

Wow! Some of you guys like some real heavy-duty stuff! I used to enjoy rum and coke. No particular brand. Can't drink anymore though. Medical problems make it dangerous for me. Once I tried to see if I could get away with it but ran into trouble with it. So, I don't do it anymore.

Sure, you can use a radio with HF bands on it, but you have to use it within the limits of your license. If you were a Tech, you can legally use all ham freqs above 30 mhz so a radio with HF plus VHF and UHF can be used on V/UHF legally by a Tech.. And yes, you won't need to buy 2 radios when...
It would not be QRT, that means turning the radio off. Can't stand bye with a turned-off radio! Only do CW here, can't hear voice. Have no idea what they say on phone, but it wouldn't be QRT. :D
That raises a good question if a guy such as this was a full time CB operator who got a ham license a few years back and thought it would be cool to have but never used it. And is caught by the FCC will people still refer to him as a ham?
If the license is fully issued, and there were no...
You haven't been paying attrention. FCC does NOT control any freqs used by the U.S, government and military auxillaries. Period. End of story. That's NTIA terrirory. FCC can't touch it They can't "coordinate" it. They don't even own it!
As for "mere" treaties? Governments negoiate them in...
"What to do?"
You're asking us whether to buy the radio or wheher to get your ham license?
Well, bottom line is that you cannot legally use a ham radio on its assigned frequencies without a license. Period. You may not legally use a ham radio outside of ham frequencies without...
Well, first of all - you need an Amateur Radio Operator's license to operate on amateur radio. You get one by taking and passing one or more exams. You may buy any ham radio you like but using it to transmit will depend on which level amateur license you have.
You can get a lot of info...
My first rig of any sort was an FT-757GX boght new as a Novice when they had just come out. I had the radio faster than my license. It took four months waiting for the paper license to come and I used the radio daily just to listen. I still have it. It's banged=up and dirty and about 17...
However would they know about something like this happening without getting a complaint about it? It's not like they have mobile spy units cruising around looking for this stuff.
