    question?????????

CWM Is it possible to write your opinions without making fun of CB lingo? All CBers don't talk that way and it's just a culture difference in on-air behavior that does not imply CBers to be stupid dolts and all truck drivers operate the so-called "Freeband," or the bottom part of the 10 meter...

    New pack antenna

Mole, I have one of those antennas, too. When you have no other choice, they work better than any other compromise antenna. I've used mine with my FT-817 and FT-897 and I have no complaints, but a tuned dipole works better. 73

    Antenna Improvement

A 102 whip with spring and ball mount is a long antenna, but 11 meters is a long wavelength. Antennas are designed to be used at specific frequencies and their sizes are usually some multiple of the wavelenth of the frequency being used. 102 inches closely approximates a quarter wavelength of...

    CwType

Far better to first learn to copy it at a high percentage rate first. Once you have everything down you can then work on sending with a key. Once you have copy skills, the sending skills will be in the same place in your mind that the copying is in. It's easier to send than it is to copy and so...

    The 10 Meter Battle

I don't hear a thing. It may be due to having no HF antenna up at the moment......

    Mexican troops attack United States

I would hardly call this incident "Mexican troops" invading the United States. Criminal drug lords, maybe, not troops.

    multi couplers

It cana be done but locating the correct sort of divider may be difficult. I'd look for a BNC Y conector. Maybe an auto stereo shop - sort that installs systems in cars - might have em. Or you can just use a PL-259 to BNC adapter on each point of the Y. 73

    New to radio

Yes, MARS is the system I was referring to. I'm glad you did some research to find it, too. Each branch of the military has their own MARS network and any ham can join. They give you a training series to go through although I don't know what that is about. 73

HOW MUCH IS TO MUCH "POWER" ?

He happens to be correct. And the other posters expained it. So who doesn't know what, Mr Marbles? Suggest you do some reading on radio theory before you jump on remarks made by someone who knows what he is talking about. You just "think" it works.

    CW Morse code pratice program

G4FON seems to be reccomended a lot. I have no direct experience with it, though. What I used to learn code isn't available any longer. It was a cartridge that a Commodore 64 used. It was great, though. You used the keyboard to respond to the character being sent and the faster you responded...

    Most bang for the buck?

Unless you're going to be doing DX, you don't need the CDs. US callsigns are online within days of issue on QRZ free. Don't know about the other sites, though.

    Best coax length

The coax only needs to be as long as it takes to connect the radio to the antenna. It is not true that any specified length lowers SWR. It doesn't. It adds loss. Not much loss, but it adds some. If you were to look in the ARRL Antenna Book, you would find nothing that says that coax length...

    New to radio

Some people illegally modify amateur radios for use on CB. That's against te rules also since ham rigs are not approved for use anywhere but the ham bands with an exception that they can be legally modified for use on a military afficiate radio system which isn't ham radio but many hams...

    New to radio

Re: Cable length The FCC rules for CB equipment requires CB sets to operate only on 11 meters using 4 watts output only on the 40 channels. All CB radios must be approved by the FCC for use on CB, and export units are not apporved by the FCC for use on CB. Radios that do anything other...

What's the latest with Glen Baxter K1MAN?

Probably so. He made a lot of noise that the FCC had no jurisdiction over what he does, so they may be stacking charges up. He is digging a deep hole. 73

    Rosa Parks

It's HEARSE, not hearst. And while is not an ususal color for hearses in the south. My family operated 2 funeral homes so I have a little knowledge about this. Many black-owned funeral businesses use colors other than black. Blue, white, purple and two-tone are commonly seen throughout the...
