thanks a bunch..lots to read and learn..will get started later this week and hopefully learn something..i hate unhooking all the time but get warned by so many locals i just do it..would be nice to have a diff outlook on it and be able to tell folks that un hook,,that i never do:D

my ham neighbor is grounded out the ying yang on his tower and unhooks everything daily when we have strikes,and he still has been hit dozens of times past 10 yrs he says..just gets the antenna mostly tho.

darned if ya do,darned if ya dont..i would have thought opposite,to keep the spacing closer..not sure if that lil would matter tho.
i also read somewhere they used the same wire and 2 feed points..it said the seperation didnt bother the full wave..but others didnt like the idea.so i kinda...
funny;i have the rotor sittin on a metal chair, when i hit the brake release it scared the crap outta me,sounded like a 22 going off against the metal chair lol.
it works and works great..cycled it thru 3 times each direction..the control box is great also..

oh i will always keep and use the astroplane till death do us part..but the quads recieve is always 3 s units better so vertical on the quad would be sweet..thanks for the link,going there now.
heres the rotors..they have to be a diffrent yr or something id think..the black one was new used 6 months when dad got it he said..its been in his shop for many many yrs..it has slight play in the rotor like normal and has a click when i turn it by hand..i feel like its maybe the brake lever i...

hi,as a few here no i have a 2 element homemade quad antenna..best thing i ever did for sure!
i set it up in diamond shape and its fed from the bottom tip for the flat side.i used dx engineering rg11 iirc, 75 ohm to match it and works great.
i need vertical now..astroplane dont work well below...

today i got 2 free ham 2 rotors from my dad,,one new "stored for many yrs"and all there and one older with the mount off the bottom..i will try the one w/out bottom bracket first since it will/should bolt...
i no this is a old thread,but is this true? i was told by a guy that was on a navy ship for yrs that they put all there coax cables in one 5 gallon glass jar when theres a storm coming?he said you can see it dancing around if it gets thru?

well i made a aluminum bracket thats pretty simple for the astroplane to mount on the side of the upper part of the lower tower..
turned out nice and level..the top just has 2 solid round alum bars welded so they slide in the top of the tower,,then a v bracket wrapped around the bottom part...
