Hi, as mentioned I tried adjusting the trimmers but no help. Does anybody out theter know what else I can try, I am thinking possibly drivers or finals and hoping someone is familiar with this specific radio and can help. Thanks, Adam
Yes, if you read my post I specifically mention that I tried to adjust those exact trimmers but it did not help.
Anyway, can anyone out there help please? Thank to all who respond. Adam
Hi all, I picked up a Northpoint CBS-1000 to play with and find AM output is about 1 watt ( no real audio swing) and SSB is like 8-10 watts. I tried to adjust RV4 and the AM coils (L38, L42 etc) but can't raise AM past that. On SSB I tried adjusting RV14 and no real improvement. Hopefully...
Hi, I have a DMM, frequency counter, and signal generator but I am not a great technician so hoping someone knows the radio well and may know fairly specifically what to look for. Thanks, Adam
Hi all, I was given a good looking SBE Console V (SBE-40CB) AM/SSB base station. It turns on and all lights up, squelch control will make the meter move as it is supposed to when adjusted but I have NO output and NO receive and NO sound. When I key the mic I hear the relay click over to transmit...
Hi Andy, when I originally had this problem a while ago I had tried to adjust the bias (using the manual etc) but could not get the voltages up high enough according to the specs, they were too low. Does that tell you anything? Adam
Andy, I used my thermal gun and not sure if this helps:
The IRF520 nearest to VR12 reads hotter, about 135 degrees. The IRF520 to the right of it nearer to VR10 reads 100 degrees.
Q51 reads about 100 degrees
Q52 reads about 90 degrees
Readings done after a minute or 2 of continual transmit.
Adam
Hi Andy, again, thanks. So aren't we dealing with a bad part somewhere because it was putting out more? Are you suggesting that adding the 330 ohm resistors now could potentially fix the problem? Should I simply replace the 2SC1906 and 2SC2314F? Thanks again for hanging in. Adam
Thank you Andy for time spent on the answer. I'll print this out and see if I can handle this with my meager skills. I hate to ask, do you know which are the driovers and pre-drivers are? (SORRY). Appreciate it. Adam
Hi all, so a while ago I posted about low output on my DX-2547 and was not able to get too far so I retested the radio today and find that on AM my output is about 3 watts dead key and swings to 17 watts or so which is fine but on SSB I can only get up to about 10 watts with full modulation, I...
