WANTED: 1 KW ( or larger) OIL-FILLED DUMMY LOAD

They are fairly easy to build your own. It's basically just a bunch of non inductive resistors soldered to a bottom plate and lid of a clean paint can. You can fill it with easy to find mineral oil or transformer oil which is slightly better but costs more.

    ICOM IC-7300 Questions

No, it won't even receive there. The max receiving frequency is 74.8 Mhz. Ham radio's that have 2m/440 along with HF/6 have individual power amps among many other components for those 2 bands. Those are basically 3 radio's built into one that's why they're referred to as a " shack in a box".

The End of a Couple of Eras!

I would be cautiously optimistic about Fine tune. As long that he's alive, he may start up again. He seems to be someone who can't give up even when beaten down. Absent from the internet is a good sign, has he been off the air for just as long ?

Export Radios, Amps, and the Police?

These days with people using cable and satellite and that's even going by the wayside with streaming, I wouldn't think TV interference is much an issue anymore. Landline cordless phones in populated areas have been mostly replaced by cellular. Stereo speakers with excess wire and powered...

    Antenna Splitter?

Google search SDR TX RX Switch and you'll get plenty if hits for these boxes. This is what you'll need so your SDR and Radio can share the same antenna! Check some reviews if possible to see what other users said about all of these models. I have an older one made by ELAD which works well...

steel whip bandwith and all these new fangled radios

This is correct. Just to add to this, When using a shortened antenna like a 102 whip for multi-bands below 12 meters you will start having high voltages between the tuner and antenna. If you start going below 15 meters it'll get worse. This coax jumper needs to be super short and you"ll need...

AT-6666 PRO Update! Firmware + PC Alignment tool + PC Software

Thanks for confirming, Don't think a firmware update can add all those new features. Seems to be an ever evolving radio model. Not a bad thing, just will encourage more sales for those wanting the newer features.

    Antenna and tower height question.

I agree with the post above. With a tower at 36 ft, your 1 full wavelength above the ground at 11 meters which is a good optimum height at that frequency. A 3 element horizontal Beam (a 4 element would be better if you prefer to mount it vertically for better local use due to the even distance...

AT-6666 PRO Update! Firmware + PC Alignment tool + PC Software

OK, I fixed my problem. Turned out the RAR file extractor software I used didn't work with the DSP update for some reason. I took a chance and used a free APP from the Micro-shaft store called Unarchiver One from Trend Micro and it worked perfectly! One thing Pez didn't mention is the latest...

AT-6666 PRO Update! Firmware + PC Alignment tool + PC Software

Anyone download the firmware's yet? I got the Main firmware installed and it took but the DSP firmware won't open up in the downloaded software. This is what I get in the pics below trying to install the DSP firmware, the error box says "?? .spi ????" Anyone else get the same?

ANYONE ELSE QUESTION WHY YOU KEEP WATCHING A FAVORITE TEAM?

Since professional sports teams went political I don't question why I DON'T watch them anymore. They, like hollywood actors, Are there for are entertainment and escape from the daily grind and now that has been soured. Without all of us they are nothing! For those who still enjoy the games...

    Kenwood TS-850S

An easy way is use a Signalink interface box which gives you a simple connection to your radio and computer via a couple of cables. The Signalink box also acts as the sound card for your radio to computer. You'"ll need a couple interface cables that Signalink sells and I believe your radio will...

Lets logically end the LMR-400 debate.

Best way to do pl259's yet! Providing you use proper crimp tool and die, No guessing if you made a good braid/ground connection. However, it works best with RG8 size cable because RGX size being small doesn't have the same bite and can work loose. I now use silver teflon crimp/solder N...

Lets logically end the LMR-400 debate.

Buy a 7k Icom 7851, a 10k Alpha amplifier, $1,500 Palstar roller auto-tune...etc, Now use a $50 hombrew G5RV wire antenna with 50ft of RG8X because that's all you need to TX a signal. You want the best get the best and don't skimp

Lets logically end the LMR-400 debate.

True, but it is the best so why not run the best. It wasn't all that expensive either for 75 ft of it.

Lets logically end the LMR-400 debate.

I looked at it this way, I spent good money on a HF rig, HF amp, and a multiband beam antenna, why go cheap with coax? I use 1/2 inch hard line with N connectors. Maybe many of you should consider the same with your base antenna?
