    Making my problems look bigger........

For background, what got me started looking... is this darned JC Penney Pinto 23 that has a problem (AFTER MY DUMB SELF clipped a ground onto the heatsink of the audio/regulator transistor and didn't think about it being the darned HEATSINK..and thereby the collector of the transistor. It was...

    Making my problems look bigger........

Another "different kind" of question. As I get older... my vision is getting incrementally weaker. I thought I would ask.... Do any of you involved in repair... use a magnifying/illuminating lamp of any kind? I was thinking of getting one to help locate those "pesky small" parts that like...

    Alternative to Channel 19

Other than small pockets here and there..... I wouldn't hold out much hope for finding those!

    Question for @Nomad.....

I didn't want to hijack Dan's thread.... on looking for Uniden document...... but I have a semi related question..... I know that I have looked for several Uniden service manuals and was unable to find them. The most "memorable" at the moment is a PC68. I have had many people steer me...

    Alternative to Channel 19

I caught myself last year... trying to "estimate" how many solar peaks I have left in my life. THAT is a heck of a way to look at things!!!!!

    Cobra 2000 no modulation.

If you measured ohms from the mic connector pin 1 to pin 2 I wouldn't expect to see anything other than 1K plus a tiny bit from the resistance in L403 and would not expect to see a difference when adjusting the mic gain pot. Essentially pins 1 and 2 go to opposite outer ends of the pot so you...

Having some fun this afternoon (Workman parts website related)....

Yeah, I was starting to get the idea that they are "wholesale only". I just wanted to get an idea what ALL they have ..... then I could go hunt for it and find it at a retailer..... maybe.

Having some fun this afternoon (Workman parts website related)....

My brain just started wondering...... all of these products that pop up all over creation from "Workman"..... wouldn't they have a website that you could go to and "see it all".... in one place??? yeah... they do..... as you might expect.... workmanelectronics.com seems to be a live...

    Dead linear amp hulks...???

Does anybody have any idea where I would be likely to find an old dead linear amp? What I am wanting is a heat sink and a case... to make a high power (as in 250 watt 30 dB) attenuator for my test bench. Obviously it doesn't even have to have the board in it. I've just never thought about...

What would be the reaction if Hams used 11m legally using their calls.

THIS would make me think that the FCC's aim would be to use this to prove that "transmissions being investigated" were coming from THIS radio.... to avoid the "it wasn't MY radio" defense.

What would be the reaction if Hams used 11m legally using their calls.

Well that raises a question in my "punkin' head"..... When they say "fingerprint"............ are they saying...."this radio is a 1979 Cobra 148 from Taiwan"????? or are they saying.... "this is the same radio that was transmitting 2 days 3 hours and 42 seconds ago on this frequency"???? It...

Possibly the most "right" response of ALL!!!!!!! ;)

What would be the reaction if Hams used 11m legally using their calls.

(just because I think the subject is interesting) So much to cover here...... When it comes to using an FCC Callsign issued in one particular service......... I would think that it would depend on whether or not a "callsign" is required in BOTH services. Like... I would not expect that it...

They may just be walking off the low end of 10 m... and turn until they hear something!!!!!

'been a long time since one of my "dumb questions".......

Always being on the look out for better ideas.... I have seen a number of repair vids where they are using different methods..... But what do some of you do..... for microphone adapter plugs... to inject test tones ... while working on transmit??? Mike... seems to have some little gadget...

NanoVNA H4, what an eye opener

I know that it can be used for coax testing and "fault location" so I would have to say yes.... but I am so new with it.... I couldn't tell you how yet!!! ;)

NanoVNA H4, what an eye opener

(On the Nano VNA H4) I could not agree more. Mine came in yesterday and after a bit of stumbling had shot my dual band antenna and found it to be great across both bands. It really makes it nice being able to dynamically "see" the entire "band of interest" and "see" the antenna's coverage...
