It could be the preamp transistor or a relay You need to figure that out. If you looking at the amp from the front, the preamp relay is on the left and you'll see a small transistor and a metal can that is your preamp transistor.

In case you're wondering if you should remove the glue...

Mind you, the transaction was in 2021. I was not pleased, at that time and did request a refund, that I did receive.

Help with Bajoie BJ-300 Chinese amplifier

I doubt it will. The amp in the video, has M1104. This part is the VHF part, used in Maxtrac, Maratrac, GM300 mobiles.

    Dc Grounded antenna question

I had a look at the base assembly. There is a pin (rivet?) that goes through the insulator. Perhaps this is the connection? I am going by online visuals, so I can't be certain. The obvious telltale, would be to ohm it out. I also looked at the specs on the Sirio store, that also state DC...

    Dc Grounded antenna question

I would power the receiver from a battery and turn off the main breaker, if it is suspected to be a source, within the house. It would be more important, to first identify the type of noise, before trying to locate the source. It may not be in the house at all.

    Dc Grounded antenna question

As far as I know, the Sirio Tornado is DC grounded. It utilizes a shunt coil match, which is electrically DC grounded.

Doesn't the astro plane have a horizontal component to it? Maybe the astro plane isn't as good as you think?

    Dc Grounded antenna question

DC ground, is a path for static charge buildup to dissipate. DC ground, will not solve RFI, which I suspect is your problem.

    Bearcat 980SSB "PLL Porn"

This stuff, is out of my analog kid realm. I do like what the DDS VFO people are doing with the 980 SSB though. Seems simple enough, except for the Brazil guy/Troy radio collaboration 980 SSB vaporware, that will never be seen.

    The Mocats

I have a Motorola SSB mobile. I would rather have a Uniden, Hitachi or Cybernet. Overengineered, cheesy, kind of a pain to work on, like most things Motorola. Nothing great about them.

I bought 5 of these, from a seller that was supposed to be in the US, from eBay. I received 5 remarked fakes from China. This was April 2021. I have to wonder where they would be getting legit chips from.

Mark was on here too at some point. He seems to have fallen off the edge of the planet, when his buddy Mike (Mike's radio repair) also vanished.

    Galaxy 350 amplifier

A little hard to tell the lass, but I think I see a simple clamping diode AB arrangement. It's that, or a class C based on the 220uH choke is see next to the input xfmr. Typical standard CB radio drive levels. Yes on 10m. It has real Toshiba 2879's, so the price is worth it.

Help with Bajoie BJ-300 Chinese amplifier

It never ceases to amaze me, how these companies throw things together, to make a buck. The power transistors in your amp, are not designed to operate in the frequency range, you would like. They are UHF parts, for the Motorola UHF radios, in the 450-512 MHz range. I can't recall if it is...
