Also, please note I tried a 48V phantom voltage mic like used on the Icom and it sucked compared to the stock mic with the 1/8" hole drilled and the mic wind screen. The 48V phantom mic setup would not drive it hard at all and I had to overcome the terrible noise it made through the talk back...

I did this same thing but went a step farther and added wind screens for cell phone mics off of Amazon. This made a huge difference and the wind screens stopped the puff pops from my breath...

I have great luck with my Imax 2000, it has the ground plane kit and balun at the feed point. Also makes a great vertical for 15 meter too.

I have never tied the reflector to a delta but I have built a reflector about 5% longer and placed it 1/10th to 1/20th wavelength away. I guess you could make it the same size and feed each loop with either side of the ladder line. You would have double the wire so it makes sense.

It helps with noise. For a test use a 100k Ohm 5W across the feed point and see what happens. You could also put ferrite around the coax as well to provide a path to ground/shield. A capacitor in series with an inductor can help as well. Also, be sure this noise is not from your home and getting...

You adjust it for the best input SWR for your set-up, Everyone's is going to be different, be sure you are adjusting the 10 meter slug/coil. Watch your SWR as you turn it with a noninductive tool. Start from the slug set in the middle if you are not sure where to start.

The FTDX10 is a hybrid but not the FT991.

Its a good worldwide guide but its not perfect as I have learned over time. Trans-Equatorial Propagation can be really good even when the solar info says otherwise. Many times 15 meter does this as well, even better then 10 meter.
