I have 100' of RG58 that will be quite suitable! Thanks for the idea - I think this may actually give us some range rather than a vertical mounted as high as I can based on what little height I can get off the ground!
Ok, my 9-year old is really getting bitten by the radio bug and we only have a mobile right now. It is a great mobile but I think it is time to have a rig in the apartment.
I've made them work before, with a vice grip on a metal railing and a 108" SS whip.
I'm on the bottom floor currently...
Just got back from a roadtrip from Seattle to Coeur d'Alene and found some sidebanders who were very impressed with a 6666 + Sirio 5000 magmount. Great/quiet receive and was working 35 miles away while driving 60MPH!
You're going to be pleased with that Sirio.
I'm breaking my girlfriend in gently, just showed her a my 75 amp power supply .. hopefully by next weekend I'll have a radio up in the new place... heh heh
I was at church.
(If you are a fan of Blue Oyster Cult or just good hard rock you may like this band. And no, they are not satanic, they just sing about the dark lord a lot).

Also, what matters on a vertical, the tippy top or the whole shebang? From what I understand (I'm just a Tech) the antenna tippy top is important to have clear of...
I understand Apple hate but to think Dell built them any better is crazy. My last MacBook went 8 years and I only sold it because I wanted a faster machine. My current is a 2015 model and it is fast and bulletproof. Anyone that has taken a Mac apart has to to appreciate their build quality.
Oh that is what the net is for! Net control will give you feedback, but 40LSB most evenings is active! 0630 local on channel 16 for old 23 channel crystal SSB radio and then at 7 the big net starts up on 40LSB. Tell them 213 sent ya!
I only have a mobile rig but DM me and we can work out a time...
So, if you could pick up either one of these radios for "near as makes no difference" which one would you go for?
The electrolytics have all been gone through on the Yaesu.
I'd put in the biggest ugliest dish I could find and then put my radio antenna up off that. Then ask them if they want me to get rid of the dish eyesore in exchange. I think I may get some takers!
Mudfoot, there are two radios there - the 990 has a single speaker. The 510 is the dual speaker... they both have a sync circuit. Can't wait read the reviews!
