Texas star 667v " bias issues"

Yes sir, I will post a pic of the amp later tonight, and yes I need to invest in a fluke but it seems for the most part the cheapo meter I have has been pretty accurate as I just got finished doing the same procedure to a sweet sixteen and had no issues and came up with correct readings ‍♂️...

Texas star 667v " bias issues"

No, once all the resistors are in circuit the measurement is taken from the input transformer or " transistor bases" to ground and then should come up with a reading of 1.5 ohm or Slightly less. I am kinda confusing some here because I checked my new bias resistors before I installed them and...

I will double check this just because and get back with you however I did try 2 different meters with the same results

Texas star 667v " bias issues"

The reading from the resistors at 3.3 ohms was taken out of circuit

Texas star 667v " bias issues"

Hi Xracer13, the newer resistors I got were metal 1%, the blue colored ones, but ended up getting the same reading of 3.3 ohms even with those I believe and tried a different multimeter with the same results, but yeah getting 2 ohms or slightly more on both boards off that input transformer to...

Texas star 667v " bias issues"

I was just stating when some of those low ohm resistors I had bought like the 2.7 ohm didn't really measure exactly 2.7 when they were out of circuit so I thought that might have been the issue so I bought another batch of them of a different style and still got 3.3 ohm was supposed to be 2.7 so...

Texas star 667v " bias issues"

I am getting 2 ohm with the resistors in circuit from the bases of the transistors to ground with a multimeter when I should have a reading of 1.3 to 1.5 ohms

Texas star 667v " bias issues"

Hi all, I am working on a texas star 667v and am having trouble, I am getting 2 ohms from the bases to ground not 1.3 to 1.5. I have replaced all 3 of the half watt resistors though I had issues with them 2.7 coming out and reading at about 3.3 ohms, I even took 5 - 10 ohms and twisted them...

Well, Ranch55 stupid me ! I found out what I had wrong I wasn't really thinking and I have seen them this way before and I saw the term "stacked" in the parts list just like they had with the 2 resistors on the output combiner and I had these stacked which doubled the value amp seems all good...

Texas Star Sweet Sixteen restoration questions and suggestions please

I moved and set the adjustable cap to 130pf and put it down where your 130pf mica is, I may just leave the tuner there for a input tune, I may have to wait till the 2200pf cap comes in as I don't have one on hand, I tried one that was 2725pf but the amp really isn't working properly still, if...

Now, the red power wires going to the output transformers is just a current upgrade correct?

Texas Star Sweet Sixteen restoration questions and suggestions please

10-4 Ranch55, yeah I did try it the way yours is last night but not with near as large of a capacitor so not sure if that may be my issue. It would only dead key about 2 more watts then my radio and with any modulation it would swing backwards! I will try a larger disc capacitor later today and...

Texas Star Sweet Sixteen restoration questions and suggestions please

Ok, I tried it out tonight , it keys but had no power output and I noticed where someone had disconnected the wire on the relay that goes to the input splitters on #8 on the relay. Now I am somewhat confused by the color schematic I have that shows how it actually goes does anyone have a photo...
