    Reclaim LSB 16

Pointless on 16 today. I checked at 11am PST and there's about a dozen AM conversations going on, the white-noise jammer is going, and worse of all the Splatterbox Kings on 6, 11, 15, 17 & 28 are doing their thing and making a big mess of the entire band. I'll pass.......

    11 meter is very quiet?

Nailed country #88 this afternoon! Darran 70DA/OC077 operating a special activation from American Samoa in the South Pacific. 27.610 USB Great conditions these last couple days.......wish I had more radio time!

    11 meter is very quiet?

I heard you 226! I was taking a break from work and radio just happened to be on 580 USB when you and 316 came on..... You were about an S 5 or 6. Couldn't hear 316 at all....not a peep...but that's just conditions. Phone rang and I had to go back to work for a bit so didn't get a chance to...

    11 meter is very quiet?

Fantastic conditions today! Worked Ireland on FM this morning with 120 watts, followed by a dozen or more stations all over the US plus Jamaica. Now there's lots of exotic stuff coming in from the Pacific ring..... Indonesia, Japan, Phillipines, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Taiwan...

    Sommerkamp TS-2000DX (gotta see this)

And my departed Father used to tell me that if nobody ever critiqued anything, the marketplace would be full of poorly designed and shoddily made goods. Criticism, especially constructive criticism, is part of the path to better quality goods.... Just my 2 cents worth.....

    Interesting radio application

I'm trying to make sense of the upside down mic clip to the left of the radio LOL! Don't think it will be very effective at holding the mic in that configuration!

    Magnum 2000 resistor repair.

You definately need to replace that missing screw on the one transistor there because that transistor will run hotter than the other with one screw missing like that as it is no longer making a flush contact with the heatsink. I would replace the scorched resistors behind the power level...

    Magnum 2000 resistor repair.

Ouch. It looks like the whole thing has seen some serious heat.

    Ranger RCI 29 Base Station

I gave up on Ranger gear over 20 years ago now and I suspect that more and more other folks are giving up too. The outdated design, poor quality control, and drifty sideband issues just never seem to go away. I would say about 80% of the people I talk to on 11 meters these days are using either...

    New (new-ish) Texas Ranger TRE-2639

Another rehashed pig with lipstick from Ranger. They seem incapable of an original thought when it comes to radio design. They are stuck in the 1990's while companies like Qixiang are firmly rooted in the year 2025.

    RCI-29 purchase update: Beware!!!

Wouldn't surprise me. Ranger has a terrible track record of quality control issues.

    Any channel plan for FM?

That's weird. 26805 is Band C channel 23 on pretty much all export radios. On some radios you need to use the +10KHz switch to get to those missing channels. I use MEM1 on my 5555N2 as a VFO and navigate my way around the band that way. I never ever use channel mode.

    Any channel plan for FM?

Does that make it to the end of the street?

Base New Vertical base antenna suggestions

My homemade delta loop way outperforms ALL my commercially made verticals on DX and it cost almost nothing to make. Way more fun building your own antennas!

    Anytone at-5555 PLUS

That is an RJ-45 which is used for ethernet, it is NOT a telephone plug. That is the standard now for nearly all VHF and ham mobile gear too. I usually use the stock mic on my 5555N2. I do sometimes like to run my Turner CS-1 desk mic on it though, so I made an adapter using an ethernet cable...

    Anytone at-5555 PLUS

I always put performance ahead of looks........ but to each their own I guess. I want my radio to be the best it can be, regardless of how it "looks". To me, this is a hobby where technology and communication are key, not the form factor of the radio.

Feeler Post : Looking for Palomar Skipper / Cobra / Galaxy 200 or 350 XL amplifier or its variants.

I don't rely on the notifications. I keep ebay open in a browser tab and every single time I'm anywhere near the computer (which is a lot as I use it for work) I'll do an ebay search for whatever I'm looking for. If I'm working on the computer I'll do it as often as once an hour. Way better...

    Anytone at-5555 PLUS

Why all the excitement over the 5555Plus/N ?? The updated 5555N2 (short case) is a superior radio in almost every respect. Better receive, better noise reduction, more power, CTCSS capability, no mute on scan, etc. etc. Someone enlighten me please as I don't get the appeal of the Plus or...

Query regarding the use of multiple FM radio transmitters in the same space.

Hate to rain on the parade, but that is flat out illegal! Intentionally blocking signals of other radio stations is not permitted, it doesn't matter if it's part of an art instillation or within the walls of a public building. Doesn't matter if it's within part 15 limits, It's still illegal as...

    Reclaim LSB 16

Made the connection, briefly, with 426 Lost Ram. Heard someone else calling my numbers afterward but unable to pull them out of the noise. Lots and lots of Brazilian stations on USB on 40 now. I remember last time we tried this channel I had the same problem......it's quiet in the morning but...
