You might try something like these LED dome lights. I suspect they would be too bright. Adding some series resistance to each of them would solve that issue. Finding the ideal resistance value will take a little experimentation. I usually start high like 15K, then I work my way down from there...
Thanks for posting your thread!
I once added a few small (half the size of a pencil eraser) capsules salvaged from several defunct Chinese walkies. Those were gold plated, including the short leads. I figured since they were gold plated, they had to be of higher quality than normal. I was very...
I wanted to pass along this deal to others that may want a quality dynamic replacement mic. In the past I have purchased the Uniden BC645 electret condenser mics. This two pack of so called “walkie speaker mics” contain 500 ohm dynamic cartridges, not the same as the original BC645. They are pre...
One of the best iconic musical scores ever IMO. Wow! That’s a very large orchestra. I wonder how much money each participant is being paid. No doubt not enough….
Shortly after the 352 hit the market I received one for free. Not from the factory, but from a disgruntled wife of a CB’er. It seems he was spending too much of his life on the CB instead of paying attention to her needs. During a heated argument she slammed the radio against the wall. The...
I’m in the final process of enhancing the Johnson Messenger 223 service manual with spliced schematic (Sam’s 23). I need to know the value of resistor R28 so I can redraw that part. Later I’ll post my enhancements upon completion.
This is a little enhancement plus cleaning on that schematic. I did see there is a very small part of the schematic missing that got cut off on the far right boundary. I’ll be happy to splice in that missing part if that area ever gets scanned again.
I use prescription glasses from the VA for reading. Both eyes are not exactly the same, but for reading they come very close to the cheap 3.5 strength glasses found in stores. I often use those as a substitute. That strength doubles every time I wear one pair over the top of the other. This...
The term “strapped” in my early days referred to the jumping of wires across various resistors for the purpose of increasing power in the final output stages of tube radios.
The words “locked or unlocked” were never applied to the early 23 channel SSB radios. The clarifiers on those early...
