From what I understand.... Capacitors leak and eat up traces. Unless I really valued the Super Base, I wouldn't want to recap the whole radio, replace or repair the VCO, and then hope none of the wires while working on it breaks on you. (They are a solid copper wire vs stranded.)

I hear ya. :) I now hooked up the radio, and realized I never actually did the clarifier mod for it... (I must be thinking of some other radio I did it to.). Display is ok and working. I wont get too involved in the radio and probably take it as far as doing the clarifier and leaving it be.

I did get myself one of them cheap testers off eBay. Was going through some transistors to try and match some sets of 4. After looking here, it says that turn-on voltage or "Vth" is the value you want to match. My question is, what if one transistor is 1.74v and the next transistor tests...

I am seriously considering getting a QT80. Seems like everyone is happy with the radio. I would use it in the mobile so I don't have to have a foot warmer attached.

The only problem is shipping. :) I dont know if I would be comfortable shipping something that big. I bought it from the original owner a few years ago. I didn't even open it up and let it be. I am from Kansas. I think they were valued way more a few years ago vs now. But I ain't one to milk...
