I have the one using the 2sc2290. The signal passes thru the amp when it is off and the signal does not pass thru when the amp power is on.
You were sounding awesome coming into my receive the other day. You were walking the locals here...lol
Picked up one of these modulators. The relay works when I key the radio into it but I get absolutely no power output. I have tried 2 to 4 watts input drive to the amp The receive pre-amp button works and amplifies the receive, so the transistor is ok. ..just no power out. The variable pot on...
lol....would those "squeals" that you were hearing have been my Brownings? I have been setting a couple up on 38 LSB the last few days lmao. I had a few locals complaining so I went back down to channel 20 AM again...lol
Cool. Thank you for all your inputs. lol....Maybe I should put this amp on the back burner just for now. I have already re-capped the amp, LC. I thought that this would be a nice amp for my set of mark III's. I see it's kind of a odd ball amp the way it is laid out. But your all right in it...
I had this amp given to me for some work I performed. I wouldn't mind re-doing this amp but I cannot find any info on the net about it. I would like to know what tubes it uses, It only had one tube in it when I got it. Thanks.
Old 75 and Wolfman were stirring the pot on ch 20 am this afternoon from the Bam. We were talking everywhere from Florida up to NYC, Philly, Jersey and Michigan. I then slid up to 38 LSB and talked with our buddy, ENC Pirate for a bit. Skip was good today. Looks like game time.....so Roll Tide Y'all
The first thing I would do is re-check your bias settings and make sure they are correct.(May be too low) Then check your AM Lo carrier pot and AM Hi carrier pot and make sure they are adjusted correctly as per the alignment procedure. 1-3w on low 8-10w on high.
I talked skip for about 3 hrs on 38 LSB.. Worked over 50 stations. Mostly north of my location but did work a couple of mobiles in Texas. Sure was a trainwreck on the band today. After that I slid down to 20 AM side and worked more northern stations. So it was a great day!
Nomad. He said he manually keyed the relay and had RF output, He also stated that the finals were good. So that eliminates the RF chain. Problem seems to be in the keying circuit. It seems that keying the mic is not causing the relay to engage, yet when manually keyed it does and everything down...
When there is no skip rolling in on 38 LSB I usually hang down on channel 20 AM side and talk with the local guys. I heard this guy in Monterrey Mexico calling for me. Thought that was cool because I don't talk dx on AM. I went back up to 38 LSB after we talked, but it was dead quiet.
