testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

thanks ..yes i see a few vortex antennas are silly heavy..has there ever been a side by side test of a V4K and the vortex with the long basket?..i would like to do a test if it has not been done, but i would have to get another V4K as mine has only got the original ring.the bottom of the basket...

testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

yes that's what a suspected it will have to be 6 miles

testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

yes that's what i am thinking ..maybe i waffle to much in my questions, what i am asking, i can set up something permanent ether 200yds away which is easy to do or 6 miles away what i am asking is 200 yards away to close for good results ..are small differences less likely to show

testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

yes i am lucky to have one about 4 miles from me so think that was the easy answer ..but strangely it did not work so well ..it give signal strength in db ..but it did not make much difference what my power output was which i don't understand why.. a bird meter confirms the output of my radio...

testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

yes i understand that .it became most apparent when i was modeling a a 5/8 GP for 4m, i had modeled it at the hight it was going to be mounted i adjust the radiator length and the radials until i get the lowest take off angel which if i remember was or was close to single figures the radiator...

testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

I have been thinking about how i can compare vertical antennas on 11/10 meters ..back in my CB days on FM in the UK was easy as on CB there was duzerns of folk i used to talk to and being on FM mine and their signals never changed unless you changed something in fact if someone say had a mic...

    1)2 wave vertical dipole

surprisingly stainless don't play nice with other metals..a galvanized turnbuckle will be better and use tinned wire

how to modify a serio ??

i am no expert on multi band vertical ,but i believe there is a trapless variety ..that are available in the UK..i have one from some stuff i get from a SK ..thay are just a 11m silver rod 1/2 wave or a fiberglass a bit like a A99 with a UNUN at the bottom.. i suppose the taped coil at the...

Imax 2000 Ground Plane Kit Worth it?

my 5/8 waves in the past have alway improved with height..modelling also shows a lower take off angle the higher you go ..the pattern only gets undesirable after 4 or 5 wavelengths high as the pattern becomes saw tooth with big nulls but the lowest lobe still keeps getting gain and lower down...

Is the Grazioli G-Max really a 10/11m collinear? how does a coil delay the signal 180 degrees

what i did off the bat to mine was throw away the self-tapers that hold sections together slot the tube and use hose clamps, i also used penny washers to bolt the ring together as in the video i posted i also taped at every joint Heverly which i think it helps with mechanical strength like where...

Is the Grazioli G-Max really a 10/11m collinear? how does a coil delay the signal 180 degrees

Hi Bob that is useful info. Until I made the thread i did not know if the G-Max was real. or marketing BS, although I am not thinking of replacing the V4K any time soon so would the new V4K be a little better than your mate's sigma4 and match the G-Max? i think the trick for antennas' survival...

Is the Grazioli G-Max really a 10/11m collinear? how does a coil delay the signal 180 degrees

Thankyou for your reply ..the more i learn the less i know.. price is 290GBP in the UK inc delivery for reference a Sirio gain master is 160GBP and a Sirio new vector 4000 is 130 from the same vendor if the top of the G-max was at the same height as a vector 4000 do you think it may outperform...

Is the Grazioli G-Max really a 10/11m collinear? how does a coil delay the signal 180 degrees

As per the title, all the photos are in the link I did some googling some time back and found no info on how a coil between a 1/4 wave section and a 5/8 wave section will give the necessary 180 degrees of delay or if a coil can be used this way to make it work as a collinear as we know a 1/4...

using an uninsulated tower as an antenna

now my next tower is going to be insulated from the ground so it will be straightforward to use the tower for an antenna But my present tower is earthed very well into the ground ..my thinking is you can have an antenna like a Victor 4000 or any other completely DC-grounded antenna and match it...

the radials are the other 1/2 of the antenna ..when you are modeling you see currents on them

    Sirio 2016

i cut and past this from a reply i did on FB yesterday ..looks like good electrical tape applied well can last 35 years.. i never had any problems with any joint i have ever done unless there was a mechanical fail >>>>to seal joints i use just good quality electrical tape..i make certain i keep...
