    Teaberry mic

Half of Teaberry's models went by a "T" of some kind, Like "Titan T", or "T Scout", or "T Charlie". What is your full radio model name? If it is the original 23-channel plain-old "T", the SAM's manual doesn't even show a pin-out, just that its a 3-wire system. If its the 40-channel plain-old...

D-2 Safety diode from B-minus to ground goes short: Damage or only loss of plate metering accuracy?

Glad you got it going! In general, 0 volts on a tube's control grid is bad, as it allows heavy conduction from plate to cathode. I don't know your particular circuit, so I don't know if there are any other safety devices in play, but for most tube circuits, 0 volts on the grid means you won't...

What do you call a VERY large triple-gang potentiometer? A "triple-potamus".

Anytone 6666 won't work with realistic desk Power Mic - why ???

You should be ok with just one more 1.5v battery, but I wouldn't recommend any more than that.

    Ranger RCI 69 base

Simple adjustment should take care of the issue, but occasionally you will run into drivers with the actual meter drive circuit (failed diode or capacitor, out-of-spec part value, etc). You can often give the meter a bit more room for upwards movement by using a bit larger filter cap in the...

    MC145106P info needed

It is an intriguing idea, but I've never seen a kit for that personally, and to do the swap would likely require some frequency juggling. The typical MC145106 chassis (Galaxy, Connex, etc) uses different loop oscillator and VCO frequencies. You photo shows what appears to be an extra crystal...

    DDS VFO

The output impedance of the 5351 is 50 ohms, with drive levels up to 8mA. Should be enough for any oscillator/crystal replacement needs you have. For a more involved coding example than the samples provided with the Etherkit library, you can download the code I wrote for my key-pad-controlled...

    Si5351

I've never had any issues storing these things out in the open. They are NOT that delicate, lol! As long as you don't expose them to anything more than normal humidity, I doubt you would ever have any issue at all. As for drift, I've used these in a number of projects, and I've not had any...

    DDS VFO

The general installation manual from the DDS-VFO website's help page covers how to set up CLK1 for a fixed frequency. CLK2 doesn't seem to be available in the DDS-VFO menu, but since the 5351 uses I2C for communication with the kit's Arduino Nano, you could probably install and connect a 2nd...

Favorite tech for repairing board trace?

The radio in question uses a double-side board. It may not be a simple fix in this case, as a board via may have been damaged as well. Would you be able to take a close-up photo or two of the damaged area? Might help with coming up with a solution.

    Shure hand mics

I'm currently using an ancient Turner handmic that was supposedly based on a Shure, but the model is obscured and I have no idea what Shure model it was supposed to be based on.

Realistic TRC-450 new in box will it work?

Be thankful they were DEAD! I opened up a Cobra 29 LTD Classic about 20 years ago that was FULL of LIVE roaches. It was just like a scene from a horror movie. Roaches scurrying across the bench, across my lap, up the cabling, down my legs, and in all directions across the floor. Needless to say...

    Another new(?) Ranger

Great post on the details of that RCI case! I remember when that was a big topic of phone conversations with Galaxy and a few distributors at the time. RCI IS repacking some of the old tech while introducing new models. The problem with RCI is still build quality. I continue to see new Ranger...

    President George FCC - CONFIRMED!

MSRP in the US will be in the ballpark of $270.00 - $300.00, with dealer cost approaching the $200.00 ballpark. One popular US distributor called me a couple days ago asking my opinion as to whether they should start carrying it, and I had to say no. Not sure this one will catch on very well at...

    Navaho TRC490 No Transmit (PC385AG)

The part to which Doffo is referring is the AM voltage regulator. Based on the fact that you are seeing proper voltages on the driver/final collectors, and the fact that you do hear the transmit on a nearby radio, I do not think there is an issue with the AM regulator. This is beginning to sound...

Any more on Mike of Mike's Radio Repair?

Something fairy major had to have happened, but no excuse for not returning customers' radios, fixed or not. I'm going to try to connect with him via QRZ or maybe bump into him on 2 meters, and see if I can find anything out.

    help with SSB output

One other broad-banding trick is to put a 200-ohm resistor across pins 11 and 13 of the SO-42P TX mixer IC. I think those are the correct pins, I'm not at the shop to check my notes. I know its two pins near the connection for L47.
