My Messenger II had the original slide switch mike directly wired to the chassis and the accessory plug on the back for the Tone Alert.
It's been many years ago , there was a lumber mill that ran a 27 MHz repeater and used tones for opening the squelch.
I might even have some old reeds around...
When that song was first released, several groups were writing bad reviews calling it sexist, not having a clue that the song was really about CB radio.

I remember Johnson made some early CB radios that used this for a selective call feature.
It was a plug in accessory that muted the rx until it heard the correct tone to open the receiver.
I think Lafayette had something like that as well.

Thrifty drug store and GBS Hardware had the biggest selection of tubes, I think a 6js6c was $7 back then.
( Bill the guy who ran the TV repair shop always charged $.50-1.00 more)
Yessir we scavenged old TVs/radios for tubes as well

I started with a 3 channel RS cb and worked up to the 101 had a B and a E series.
I was fortunate that I had already progressed past the defeated limiter AM junkie mentality when I bought them.

Then as I was going to store and post office suddenly 1732 comes up with a strong signal and called CQ on 38
I answer and we talked about 5 minutes
just like he was local.
And then he faded into oblivion replaced by more static

She said that the battery is not lasting as much anymore.
I figured it was just a pack of rechargeable cells, I will pull it out and replace it.
Removed screws......
Well I guess that MAh rating...
It's a balance
You always want to be open to someone who is just trying to understand ( insert radio service) and is looking for advice or someone who has radio experience and wants to post up something that might be useful for the group.
It happens, it seems to come in waves.
They want...
The Gainmaster is a 5/8ths wave center feed antenna.
I made this mistake as well years ago and at first I disregarded it as another a99 clone.
After some education, Thank you @bob85 , The DB, Marconi and others, I came to understand where the actual feed point is on the antenna.
If you search...
